I'm not really a neo-progressive fan, but there are some albums I enjoy.
Which is your favorite classic neo-prog band?

My personal ranking:

Twelfth Night (until 1983)
Marillion (Fish-era)
IQ (my faves are Frequency and Ever)
Pendragon (only The Jewel)
Pallas

With their mixture of symphonic / space rock with punk / new-wave, I find Twelfth Night more creative and original than the other ones, and finally, more worthy of the "neo-progressive" denomination. Even if you deeply hate the "neo-prog" genre, please give "Live at the Target" or "Fact and Fiction" a listen.

Is there other neo-prog bands as creative you would advice me to try? Don't hesitate to post a recommendation.

I'm not really fond of Arena, but I truly enjoy Legend, however they're a bit particular...

It Bites.

I can tolerate some Marillion and IQ.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

IQ if not exclusively for their brilliant debut. Marillion always sounded too plastic to me and the 80's works by the others never seemed overly enticing to my tastes.

I've been a big fan of IQ since the very beginning so they get my vote.

These days I prefer Hogarth-era Marillion to the Fish era by an ever-increasing distance.

1 IQ Apart from the 2 albums with Paul Menel (which are still pretty good), all their albums are pretty much masterpieces. Just behind Camel in my list of favourite prog bands.
2 Marillion All the Fish era albums are excellent, Fugazi being the pick, but they peaked with Season's End. I like both vocalists equally.
3 Pendragon The trilogy of Not of This World, The Masquerade Overture and The Window of Life is astonishing. Not so keen on their more recent stuff, though.
4 Pallas Good but not in the same league as the top 3.
5 Twelfth Night Pretty good but not in the same league as the top 3.
A TVR is not a car. It's a way of life.

I really dig Fish era Marillion and IQ's first two albums, as well as Frequency, but lately I've been getting back into Twelfth Night with a vengeance. There's just something about that post punk vibe that genuinely resonates with me. Also the reason why I prefer the two first IQ albums to anything that came after.

Some of these bands constituted my first exposure to "prog" as a teenager in the eighties.  Can't say I have listened to any of them much at all in the last couple of decades, but I'll always retain a soft spot forThe Wake, the first progressive album to utterly blow my mind. So IQ it is.

Honourable mention for Pendragon, whose Fly High, Fall Far EP was the first prog vinyl I bought. But nothing subsequent to that seemed to kindle the same spark.

No surprise that I vote for Marillion, a band who, above all other bands, have provided me with so much pleasure. I also think that Hogarth is a genius, and this from someone who saw the band with Fish before most had heard of them.

IQ and Pendragon are awe inspiring, and I feel that both have gotten better over the years, with their latter day output simply breaking all creative highs of the so called height of neo.

Pallas and Twelfth Night have both had their moments, but, in comparison, to the above three, are not in the same league.

I give the edge to IQ above Marillion for their first two albums.

Some interesting albums from Neo-prog bands have emerged during the last years. To mention a few:

Magenta - The 27 Club
Abel Ganz - s/t
Nine Stones Close - Leaves (not exactly Neo-Prog, rather dark and heavy, but one of the best releases of this year imho)
