New song is very much in the vein of STCBM, slow, mellow, melodic.......I need to listen to it a couple more times. The first listen I strayed some.......

been on a hmmm Fish`s solo albums "which for some reason seem to lyrical procession me within them" which is weird, but over welling at the same time not that, that`s something new to me as tis not without merit I`ve found many other prog bands/solo`s where some or whole albums seem to say to the letter what I`d have said! weird/spooky....

well I`ll make it a little clear if I can...some of the words from a song seem at the release of the album are what I`d have written about my self. take the songs: 1. The Web, Three Boats Down From The Candy, Jigsaw, Fugazi. 2. A Plague Of Ghosts, RainGods With Zippos, What Colour Is God, High Wood... do you get it now???????

The band have uploaded the video trailer and interviews for the new album on YouTube, with some incredible graphics and snippets of music from the upcoming work.
I have a feeling this is going to be one of their finest. I have forgotten how to link Tube videos on the forum, but if you search f**k Everyone and Run, you should get it. |

Be careful with that search however, as you may get some nasty porn too.

The new album sounds very promising, but the FEAR acronym just sounds really lame.

I don't think it is necessarily designed to do so. The overwhelming impression I get is that this is a band extremely comfortable with its fan base, the most loyal in the world, and this is an album made with two sets of people primarily in mind. Firstly, and most importantly, the band members themselves, and, secondly, that loyal fan base. |

Hey, all. It's been a bit. Thought I'd jump in regarding the new album. I disliked the album title when I first learned of it, and I still don't care much for it. And as far as the song "The New Kings", I haven't cared much for it, either. I think they're giving Mike Hunter too much control and piecing together their jams. I listened to it about 5 or 6 times, and then shelved it. It did (sort of) resonate with me the last time I heard it, but it's not like it punched me in the face.
The 16 minute trailer gives me some hope. I have championed this band when albums like Somewhere Else and STCBM weren't a fan favorite; however, if I'm lukewarm on the new one, I'm done with pre-ordering. E

Is there such a thin line between faithful and sheep? If it doesn't make me a faithful fan, then I guess I'm not..in spite of plunking down hundreds of dollars and seeing them 15 or more times.

Marillion and I have a love/hate relationship.
I discovered them when they just released The Thieving Magpie and B'Sides Themselves. That was the same moment Fish left the band, so by third album was Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors. For years it was all about Marillion with Fish and Fish solo. I kept buying and buying and was one of those (annoying) pro-Fish/anti-Hogarth people. Then I discovered Made Again (double live cd) and I was sold. Then I started buying the Hogarth-albums and remained a fan (fanatic) and even pre-ordered their albums to help them release them. Then they went all alternative rock (Radiohead, Coldplay etc.) and I lost interest when The Sounds That Can't Be Made was released. The love was over. Today I listened (on Spotify) to the full 20 minutes version of We are the Kings. Wich to me harks back to the days of Holidays in Eden/Season's End with a bit of Ocean Cloud/Strange Engine. I hope the new album is in the same vein, and maybe Marillion and I can be lovers again. Fish (by the way) keeps releasing stellar albums The Hogarth-solo albums are not to my liking and the Rothery-albums kind of bore me.

I've not pre-ordered but I will certainly get this as soon as it is released. I have intentionally avoided listening to the snippets as I want to hear the whole thing together.
Their last few albums have been truly stellar and if this is as good as the last two in particular I will be one very happy bunny . Incidentally, tickets in hand for their gig in November in Manchester. After seeing them perform Marbles at the Marillion Weekend last year, they have a tough act to follow . |

How is it possible that there already 49 reviews for a record that hasn't even come out yet?
I'm talking about FEAR by Marillion It's already considered to be an absolute masterpiece. And others already hated on it by rating it 1 star. What are we? 14 years old? |

Unfortunately, it would seem so. I have posted in the Inappropriate Ratings thread (Report Abuse section), but I am not sure the page will be deleted as it should. |
