The Moodies, because it gave you almost of their good songs. 

I am familiar with all these compilations - yes, Moodies is the 'best' one. This is, after all, the album my sister had that turned me on to their music. All the others, I was already listening to the proper albums.

Having a listen to The Moodies one right now (literally acquired it yesterday because of the poll!) and its very good. It funny how good these 90's CD releases are . Superb sound quality but the selection does also flow very nicely especially Disc 2.

I guess with prog bands this is most often the case (I mean, who here would consider Another Brick in the Wall 2 Pink Floyd's best song, or Owner of a Lonely Heart Yes's best, or Lucky Mand ELP's best), but with more mainstream bands I'm not so sure. There are several songs I like from pop bands/artists... but hardly would I consider getting their whole discography to find which are my real favourite tracks from them, so I download the ones I know, or get a greatest hits album (or a live album), and often I'm content with the few songs I find there that I really like (well, sometimes I might end up needing to download the good songs anyway, since often enough they are in an editted form and I would want the complete songs, but at least that's a way of finding which are the songs I will like).

Ah yes, compilation albums. I kind of have a particular interest to these kind of albums, mainly in particular to see what songs fit in the CD (or LP). IMHO, Chronicles, for what it's worth, did a solid job under the 74-minute time limit, though it's far and away their best compilation (Gold gets that honor).
