What albums did you listen to today?

One of the reasons might be that I listen to loads of krautrock and elecrto prog lately. I'm really on a kick for those genres and I'm pretty loud here.

When I came here a little over a year and a half ago I listened to and posted about 60s and 70s bands and albums because that's what my original vinyl collection consisted of. I listened to Krautrock because a lot of my import albums were from German bands.

^  I'm still on my first album of the day but I think I can safely say that Psych Rock will be the majority of what I play today.

Organization - Tone Float. This band was a progenitor for Kraftwerk and since I'd really enjoyed their debut album, I was naturally curious to check this one out. The recording is pretty raw, but quite interesting nonetheless. The album is mainly centered around the work of organ, that sounds a bit like Farfisa, but has the fullness of the Hammond, and exotic percussion instruments. At times, this reminds me of Electric Meditation by Tangerine Dream. And quite rightfully so, I think, considering this was produced around the same period. Nice album!
Henry Cow - Legend. Revisited this album once more and I absolutely love it still! Such a rewarding listen! And as I said the last time, each listen reveals new details - so did this one. I've focused on the work of saxophones. I really like the bitonality between them and other instruments. Excellent album... Always!
Guru Guru - Kanguru. Kanguru was a plain joy to listen to now that I've finally got into some more Krautrock. I've enjoyed the album throughout with its dry, straight-up guitar jamming. I really did. In fact, I was quite inspired just by listening to the record and I have played guitar (with all the pedals and my best amp and all) for some time after I've finished listening. An extremely rewarding listen.
Olivier Messiaen - Turangalila Symphony. Yeah, I do like classical music. Messiaen is in fact one of my favorite composers, along with Stravinsky, Szymanowski, Bartok, Hindemith (whose brother was a teacher of Popol Vuh's Florian Fricke), and Bruckner. I can hear how this piece might have influenced some prog bands (although none actually admitted to it). A very nice variety to my listening schedule.
La Dusseldorf - La Dusseldorf. This album is still somewhat of a mystery to me. I really can't express a confident opinion on it. On one hand, it seems to go to more pop-oriented areas, flirting with post-punk at times even. On the other, it seems to maintain the classic, krauty quality, very much reminiscent of Neu! in its sonic aspect. But I really enjoyed listening to it. It was like a breath of fresh air to be honest. Very enjoyable and perfect as a background to reading.
Van Der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts. I have a 4 Men With Beards reissue of that one on LP. A really good copy! I really like to come back to this album often. Rarely does music build so much emotion in me. In fact, "Lemmings" in particular is a track that often brings tears to my eyes with its distinctive feel. When Hammil sings "I stood alone upon the highest cliff-top, looked down, around, and all that I could see were those that I would dearly love to share with crashing on quite blindly to the sea....", I can really picture that scene. And the music matches lyrics so well! This could easily land on my all-time Top 10 list. I love this one dearly... Like a woman, it's that kind of love!
Amon Duul II - Yeti. This is a late birthday present from my beloved dad who is now sadly away. He financed my buying of this album and I must say it was a pretty good deal! Equal to 20$, all new, sealed with 2 LPs! This album always takes me into different lands. Once described as "Germany's great psyche-overload band", this album matches the description perfectly. The music is so hypnotic, relaxing, and trippy! I love it. And the cover art looks so neat! It's all new so it does not have any scratches or anything... It's pristine! Love this album and I'm so glad my dad bought it for me!
