Fantastic! Brilliant!
Album of Big Big Train "From Stone and Steel". It's not a compilation, it's а new reading. Brilliant arrangements, divine vocal of Longdon, glamorous drums of Nick D'Virgilio. Greg Spawton is too great! All band is great! Rare case when the compilation album is so so good! Old songs (like The Underfall Yard or Victorian chaise Vork) sound a whole new way. 100 points out of a possible 100

You can hear & enjoy before buying here

I recommend giving this song a listen. I had this song on my ipod back in like '03, and it didn't really have a title or artist. I find it incredibly moving and atmospheric. Yes, it's a remix of a song from a video game, but it's in a prog rock style.

Parts of it guitar solo later in the song kept popping back into my head after all these years, and so I listened to it again and still like it, despite it being a bit amateurish in retrospect. Now I have found it. What does everyone else think of this song? Is it really special or am I just being nostalgic?

Hey there,

let me inform you about the upcoming release of the Czech progressive rock/metal band, Face The Day.
One song is already out on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QUYCaeUfY8

This particular song is pretty Porcupine Treeish.:)
Hope you'll like it!

Cheers!
Martin

some interesting albums I've listened to recently that are worth mentioning:

Valerinne - Monumenta
Fjord - On Icy Shores
these two are post rock with hints of metal, great atmosphere throughout

Arlon - Mimetic Desires (2015) - neo-prog meets progressive metal kinda, a pleasant surprise, very enjoyable.
Alyeus - And From the Sky We Fall (2015) - progressive metal again, but definitely not vanilla LOL
Sannhet - Revisionist (2015) - instrumental experimental black metal some say, it's a mix of shoegaze, post-metal and black metal, the lack of vocals makes it very enjoyable for me.
Long Distance Calling - Trips - a change in sound, less post-rock, one of the best albums I've heard this year.

New England band Paradigm Shift. The leader of the group is the keyboardist. The music is not complicated, but bright.
