They don't post on facebook very often, but Gary Chandler has recently played another 'House Gig' at Paul Brewer's specially adapted house with Martin Orford, and the text below was posted both on facebook and the band's website: http://www.jadis-net.co.uk/:
Hello again to you all Myself and Martin Orford had yet another successful house gig last weekend. Once again with Paul Brewer as host yet this time at his new and extensively renovated place in the quiet suburbs of Chandlers Ford. He has designed the downstairs area so that more house gigs can take place in the future. Francis Dunnery will be playing there on 3rd June. We had a great turn out and played a one off set of more than 2 hours which comprised scaled down Jadis and IQ songs including some material from the forthcoming Jadis album and then we took it upon ourselves to play a few ‘very high risk’ cover versions including Camels (Ice), Yes (Wondrous Stories) Genesis (Ripples) then Carpet Crawlers and Solsbury Hill which we played using Acoustic Guitar and Cittern which is one of many of Martin’s medieval instruments which he has mastered. Martin also introduced the Hurdy Gurdy. It is a small fat Guitar looking instrument which makes a drone sound as a hand cranked rosined wheel ‘bow’s’ the Violin like strings. The action looks a bit like a bus conductors ticket machine circa. 1970 crossed with a mangle. It has a great sound and we managed to shoe horn a section of Spinal Taps ‘Stonehenge’ into the ‘Gurdy’ piece. It was a great evening. The next Jadis studio album ’No Fear of Looking Down’ is nearing completion which I’m very excited about and very happy with the tunes. Martin will be adding some of his unique keyboard parts and backing vocals to it as he has a higher range than me and our voice mix works well together. We are also going to print a limited vinyl version of the album. More info. soon Bye for now Gazzzzzzzz Good to see that Martin Orford is still keeping his hand in...Well both hands in all probability!!

Latest news on the new album from facebook:
"Hello, Looks like summer is here for a few days! Here is an update on the progress of the new Jadis album. The recording is now 90% complete and the last drum session was completed a couple of weeks ago at Steve Christey's new studio - it's a relaxing environment and we got a great sound there. We will upload a video tomorrow of the session which features the newest Jadis tune, 'Where Am I', written for the album. The song only has ’stunt’ words at the moment but the melody is in the right place. We know most of the deadlines for the release of the album have now passed but we can confidently say it will be available in September… this year!!! Bye for now and thanks for your constant support" |

Latest facebook update: https://www.facebook.com/jadismusic/posts/1076605702389036
"Hello, I’m busy putting the finishing touches to the new album, the mixing is nearly done and all the artwork has been finished. We are going through the mixes to make any last minute notes prior to mastering. During the week I have been editing an acoustic tune on the album which has some fantastic flute playing from Martin Orford and also features some excellent Hurdy Gurdy. We also have a brand new website which we hope will be easier to navigate and plus it looks so much better. It will be updated with the new album artwork at the time of release and will have more recent photos. The website is linked below. The album has been recorded over the last three years and once again has Steve Christey on drums and Andy Marlow playing bass. We have been fortunate this time to get some excellent musical contributions from former Jadis keyboard player Martin Orford. I have once again been engineering and producing the CD in my modest studio although the drums have been recorded in various locations over the past few years using different kits, as Steve has plenty to choose from. This is the first time we have recorded like this as usually the drums get recorded over a period of 2 days with the same kit. As usual Steve’s playing is brilliant and coupled with Andy’s excellent bass playing the rhythm section is stunning. ’No Fear of Looking Down’ will be independently released through our Jadismusic label and will have 8 tracks. It will be available in CD Digipak, Vinyl and Digital Download, and available on the new website. Bye for now." |

And the new album is now finished and currently being mastered: https://www.facebook.com/jadismusic/posts/1099923330057273.
It will be sent off for manufacture this week and the band should have the finished CDs in approximately 3 weeks time. So the release date will be 24th October...not September as previously announced back in the summer. As with the 'See Right Through You' CD back in 2012, the band are going to sign and number the first 300 copies of the new album and will announce order details this week, with an upload of some sound clips and Geoff Chandler's excellent album cover artwork. The track listing for the new album is: 1. Listen to me 2. Where am I 3. Just let it happen 4. A thousand staring eyes 5. Change of the season 6. Seeds of doubt 7. Abandoned 8. No fear of looking down In the meantime all Jadis albums, apart from 'No Fear of Looking Down', are now available to download in CD quality on their Bandcamp page: https://jadismusic.bandcamp.com/. |

Final post from me on this subject - copied from facebook today: https://www.facebook.com/jadismusic/posts/1133459426703663:
"Hello, We are pleased to say that 'No Fear of Looking Down' is now available to download from iTunes, Bandcamp and CD Baby in a range of different formats. All the links are available on our website http://www.jadismusic.com. All the CDs were sent out on 30th Oct and 1st Nov, so 95% of those who pre-ordered should have them by now. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us by buying the new album and by sharing and promoting it on the internet, we are very pleased with the reactions and reviews so far. We will be doing as much promotion as we can afford by having half page adverts in Classic Rock, Prog Magazine, Mojo and Q Magazine; word of mouth by yourselves is also a very powerful promotion and is much appreciated! Bye for now." |
