spoilers? oh I'd never do that.
![]() She has 4 series of books. 3 trilogies ( the 3rd of the 3rd is due out this year IIRC) and the best of the bunch IMO a series of 4 books set in the same world but not with the characters you are reading of. The Rain Wild Chronicles. Related to the FitzChivalry centered tri-trilogies indirectly. The setting is mentioned often in the Fitz book Even fantasy worlds I guess are nothing more than one nice global village haha. No spoilers but they intersect. All are great. Read them all ![]() and thanks Sam. The hell with hobbies and projects. I picked up Salem's Lot and am rereading again. ![]() |

The Hobb books sound interesting.....I'll ck out Assassins Apprentice at the local library.
Anyone who likes classic fantasy needs to read the 'Nine Princes In Amber' series by Zelazny.....perhaps my all time favorite fantasy-sci-fi series.

they are. I really found them interesting. Raff is more into that stuff than me.She has suggested a fair amount of stuff for me to read. Some connected and some didn't. Hobbs definitely did. I enjoyed those books and am looking forward to reading the conclusion to the latest trilogy.

Just finished Salem's Lot. No matter how many times I read it.. it still makes me feel like a child and gives me the heebies jeebies.
So with that detour ended. back to work here. And doing a spot read (selected chapters) of one of the more intersting. .and controversial books out there in the realm of ww2 history. We all knew Stalin was as evil. probably worse than Hitler. Did one also know that like Hitler and Germany.. Stalin and the Soviet Union lost ww2. Fascinating premise.. and it makes perfect sense once all the puzzle pieces are laid out and finally are put together. A lot of my friends hate this book.. they are Glantz stooges... personally I think this guy had it right. Corresponding to everything I have found in my own research. ![]() |

no worries, I was just in a mood this morning and feeling put out. I went to the WWI museum in Kansas City this weekend and they had two of the worst books on the truce - badly researched and total rubbish and I was annoyed that they were stocking them and not mine.
Who is Russell and what has he written (besides good reviews)?

no worries Terri. I can understand that sentiment completely
Russell is Russell Kirkpatrick...an inactive ProgReviewer from the glory days of the site. He has written some really good fantasy stuff. I picked them up and really really enjoyed them. He is a good writer. He was perhaps first famous for that.. then later his books were overshadowed by instigating the most sordid, controversial and yet perhaps most entertaining episode this site ever saw.. in fact I should be fair and bump his review over mine to #1.. the episode... known to old timers here and spoken in hushed reverential words... Torman Maxt.... |

I haven't read the book yet, but - as a lifelong reader - I can tell that a lot of painstaking research went into it, as well as genuine interest for the subject. Kudos, Terri
