Both bands managed to "own" cover versions - Talking Heads with Take Me To The River and Roxy Music with Jealous Guy (what an arrangement).

In case you don't know.
Ferry got Take me to the river also on his solo album,

I voted neither because I never got into either one.
No reflection on the bands, I just never got around to them.

^Try Roxy's mid-period of albums. Tasty in their own right.

^  Thanks, I'll look into that.
Back in the day I heard some Talking Heads on the radio but no Roxy Music.

I'd go with Talking Heads, they were sort of an entrypoint for me concerning 80's music. They were fantastic live and in studio, with 77, Remain in Light, and More Songs About Buildings and Food being my favorite studio albums.

I used to not like Roxy Music because of Ferry's singing, but I've gotten used to it now. Their songs are good, and their albums surprisingly consistent. The only song I've heard that really sticks out to me is Virginia Plain, which is just as good, if not better, than most of the Talking Heads' stuff.
