I share this opinion . Both are classic masterpieces, but this is my favourite Yes album (and overall favourite) against my fourth favourite Pink Floyd album.

Well, I wouldn't take either if I had the choice of other albums. Out of these though it would be Dark Side.

I prefer Dark Side of the Moon. I never did really appreciate Close to the Edge. That said, Dark Side of the Moon is not the kind of album I readily would choose to bring to a deserted or an inhabited island as it's so inoffensive. It would neither be an album that I would not want to play out loud for fear of annoying any neighbours, so not an "I need to play this alone" pick, nor does it serve as an album that I would want to play in order to annoy my neighbours.

Larks' jive at the Loon although I've been enjoying Close to the Edge of late. My fave on that album is still 'And You and I' - one of Wakie's best stints with Yes...especially in a live setting. Oh and Any Colour You Like Green today because of my jacket and the Yes adversary.

two of my all time favorite albums, but it's Close to the Edge all the way for me. No offence to the other masterpiece, though.

Dark Side. So much beauty and emotion on one slab, some of Rick's playing still gives me chills. Time, Great Gig in the Sky with Claire, Any Colour. The entire album still moves me every time.
CTTE I really only enjoy Siberian these days.
Now if you had put Topographic up against Dark Side my vote might be different.

I think DSOTM is incredibly overrated (yes, that word again) - as demonstrated by someone mentioning it in the same post as CTTE and then people voting for it. I do think it's one large yawn, although not nearly as full of Waters' self-pity as The Wall, when he fairly wallows in the emotion. Speak, Breathe and Us and Them are okay, the rest more marginal. Close to the Edge: all three songs are brilliant. That's ALL THREE, even Siberian Khatru.

I never liked Siberian Khatru, and considering that takes up approximately 23% of the CttE album, I'll have to go with Dark Side of the Moon, because there is no way near as much that I don't like about that album, percentage-wise.
