Topic: Hello everybody! Posted: April 12 2016 at 17:52 |
Hello! My name is Kimberly Pierre and I was introduced to progressive rock/metal by my friends. I grew up from a prog background. My dad is a huge Dream Theater fan and my brother's are fans of a whole variety of bands. I am currently 13 years old, and would prefer prog over pop any single day.
I share a similar love to Dream Theater as my father does. If I had to rank the progressive bands, my list would look something like this:
1) Dream Theater 2) Ayreon 3) Haken 4) Transatlantic 5) Opeth 6) Symphony X
It's nice to be here, and I know I will enjoy this site a lot! Thank you guys!

Thank you so very much! I just hope to find solace here. I'm a musical outcast. There are only a few boys that listen to prog bands. Yep, the only girl at my school who listens to Dream Theater, but they are indeed a very good band, love them very much! I'm sorry for making you feel so old, that wasn't my intention. This site has proven to be very grand so far. There's a lot to do!

I've been here a long time, met a lot of great people, and more than that. Discovered a lot of great music. Get involved.. jump into discussions. You'll find everyone quite welcoming and tripping over themselves to make you feel welcome.. and also turn you on to some great music.

Thank you . I'm enjoying this site already! <3 I'm just kind of nervous, you know? Would anyone even want to talk to me? (You and Atavachron are an exception ) I mean, it's really scary meeting new people, though it's kinda preposterous, seeing as this is an online site, but, it was real nice of you to tell me these things. Thank you!

13?? I've got socks older than that (he says adjusting a non-existent collar a la Rodney Dangerfield)-Youtube him. Hey
welcome, My first exposure to prog was when I was about 12 so you're in
good company. Looks as though you like the "Heavy prog" and "Symphonic
Metal" genres by your list. There's a huge world of music to be had
here, so enjoy your exploration. Check out some of the Forums for fun
and info. Based on you list here's a few bands you may want to check out. Anekdoten Adagio Sky Architect Spock's Beard Just to name a few. But don't limit yourself, sample bits and pieces of different bands and genres, you never know what you might find. But most of all, ask, ask, ask...and we shall answer.

I'll be sure to check them out! Thank you! And I looked up Rodney Dangerfield. Is he the standup comedian guy?
And yeah, I actually like long songs, and I'm a sucker for concept albums or songs that tell nice stories. That is why I like Dream Theater the best.
And this forum is really huge!

Welcome!
I was probably introduced to prog when I was around 11 when a friend showed me Rush. If you're a sucker for concept albums, you may want to try their "Clockwork Angels" album.

Yeah! Finally!!!! I'm not the youngest here anymore! Welcome from a 16 yo, you'll undoubtedly have a great time around here. And I defenitely feel how it is to know nobody who likes prog, and that's exactly where PA comes in!

Hi, welcome to PA! Ayreon is probably my favourite from those, although Prog Metal is not a genre I listen to often.

Hello, once you have ten posts (I think) you can vote in polls. I recommend participating in those polls, it's a great way to discover "new" music.

Thank you very much! Ooh, you were first introduced to Rush, eh? Yeah, they are a really good band! Though I don't listen to them much, I have tried listening to a few of their songs. :) And, I'll be sure to check it out! It seems very interesting!

Heh, thank you very much! I thought it was a cute animation so I decided to choose it. Might change it pretty soon though. :D

Ayreon is really good! What genre of music do you mostly listen too? What's your favorite band?

Scotland? That's super cool! I really want to visit Glasgow in my lifetime. The place is really interesting and is a song by John Petrucci: Glasgow Kiss. Scottish people are really cool! Ah, I heard one song by Little Mix, and it was good! Though prog is waay better ;)

I was your age when I started getting into music. A year later I got introduced to Pink Floyd and another one I found myself playing guitar. I'm also new, but welcome anywas.
