True, though TtMaR is a very good first real debut.  But yes, before that it was spoofs and romps.  And Sam was a well-rehearsed and performed play before the movie.  It's actually quite an economic script for him, very concise with no wasted time.  And for a non-S.F. native, he captured the City fairly well.

Actually I didn't care for TTMAR. I felt the script was much weaker than anything else he did around that time. (The story wasn't the greatest either, but not awful)

I use the TV for baseball and college football.....and silly comedies like Family Guy, South Park, Seinfeld, etc.  I just can't bear the constant interruptions for commercials!  So, on the TV today - nothing, but check back in a few weeks when MLB gets into full swing....then it's baseball with the sound muted and Miles swinging on the hi-fi. 
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....
