Thanks for this one a couple of years back, buddy! ) Dream theater--- the astonishing ( not a again you say?! I just can't put it down. ) Metallica-- through the never ( pretty good recording. Nice mastering by Howie Wienburg. Doesn't sound quite as punchy as S&M but still good none the less. Vocals are treated better. ) Seventh circle-- the struggle. Fughu-- human (the facts.) Yeah, me too If would be awesome if all albums had that quality of production I have some of their albums on CD and vinyl and they sound completely different, but I really enjoy both

It is quite a difficult album, no confusion why it can be hard to enjoy. I think it's the sort of album that you appreciate more than truly love. I quite like all of it, but I skip the `Several Species...' nonsense every time and the album is great! That track is kind of cool once, but never needs to be repeated!

I agree, it's a difficult album but I'm glad I continued to try it. Yes, it's easily the worst track from it but I'm sure it wasn't particularly easy to record. "Grantchester" is nice but it's a bit long. I guess Waters was somehow out of ideas, since he wrote most of More in the same year? (damn, I skipped that album )

I bought that Pink FLoyd release (which my Ipod incorrectly titled `The Pink Jungle: Live in Amsterdam', when instead it is the concert on the clip below) a few months ago, it is no doubt a bootleg, but it's been given a proper sleeve and pressed CD release. I have no idea what the legal loophole around it was that allowed it to be sold through some online vendors (perhaps they were simpky being shifty! ) , but I am happy to add it to my Floyd collection. I'm always fascinated by their early live concerts, makes you appreciate the progression of them both live and in the studio. You can actaully listen to that particular recording here:
I have no doubt that story and production behind `Species' is more interesting than the actual composition! I like `Grandchester Meadows', but I agree, everyone elses pieces are probably more interesting on that set.
Damn, I skipped `More' as well, and you know that's my favourite Floyd album!! I'll spin it tonight after `Atom Heart Mother'!
Random thought - I really dislike live performances from the time of `Cymbaline' when David and Roger would ROOOOOOAR the chorus! It really ruins the fragile mood of the piece, and on all the bootlegs I've heard, it always causes the speakers to muffle and distort! Grrrr! Very inapporpriate.
Yes, I don't mind that Rush album, it seems fairly short! I find the lyrics a bit unengaging, but the playing is slick. Definitely a good album, although I still never see a time when I'll truly love the band.
Ha, those vocal on that Womega album are baffling! They literaly do improve after a few spins, or rather you focus more on what the album does right!

I listened to a few minutes but I can barely understand anything they play At least we have Ummagumma's live album.
It's Floyd's "Revolution 9". It's funny, I used to hate that track from The Beatles' White Album and when I played the album some weeks ago it was the most interesting track from it

I know what you mean, I thought it was odd too. I have a bootleg DVD from a 1970 TV performance and they do that.
It's so good instrumentally that I never paid attention to what Lee sings about If you enjoy the album it's good enough

Berits Halsband – s/t – Sagi, Sam, Gary – ABSOLUTE HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION! I bought this reissue of a rare Swedish instrumental album from 1975 a few weeks ago (it comes in a large and lavish hard cardboard book-like package), and it is a knockout beginning to end. Sounds like everything from Out of Focus, If, etc...a lively mix of jazz/fusion/rock with terrific jamming, quite rough around the edges, but the musicians are top-notch, with a bit of grit as well.
One of the best things I've bought in years, can't stop spinning it!

^ I just got into Arena recently with The Unquiet Sky so I've been listening to other albums.
Yesterday was the first time I played Pride and I liked it a lot.
Not a weak spot in their entire discography I feel. Their dvd's have some troubling A&R + video quality issues, but other than that Arena have quality albums from start to finish. If I may recommend. Live&Live ( amazing double live album from the contagion tour. Audio quality is unbelievable as well.) Second. Immortal? I feel its a masterpiece. All the tracks are just amazing. Great flow to the album. Lastly. The Cry EP. This is a rare gem, but you can hear Arena in a somewhat different way than expected.
Hope you'll enjoy them as much as I do. Arena are the kings of neo Prog for me.
