I'm into so many bands these days that I missed listening to Floyd. I used to listen to them every single day, until I found this website I'm intrigued: what's Python Blue?

Let me guess, Moonchild? I barely knew any Prog when I discovered that album, so don't mind my opinion The cover is so iconic that I had to listen to it when I saw it on Youtube (what's wrong with streaming, Mr. Fripp?). What do you think of Poseidon? I didn't like it much. I have a hard time being awake during Trespass though Did our discussion affected your listening experience?

^^ I'm not ready for that, I don't have any single
Clearlight - Forever Blowing Bubbles Mémoriance - Et Après The Great Discord - Duende Edgar Froese - Macula Transfer Syndone - Live at Gouveia Museo Rosenbach - Zarathustra (I can't stop spinning this This Japanese CD edition sounds great, even on my system... it has some noticeable compression on louder parts though, probably since it's a 24-bit remaster. It deserved Blu Ray, am I right Nick? )

Unfortunately, I'm more convinvined than ever (for me personally) that I'm spot on about `Saucerful', if anything I enjoyed it even less than I normally do. Too inconsistent, and I got throughly bored with it on this particular listen. On to `Ummagumma' shortly, though. In some ways the `Poseiden' album has some superior moments to `Court', but it is a very lazy remake of the first album. `Pictures of A City' is a terrific opener (although not much different to `21st Century Schizoid Man' from the debut), and despite the nonsense lyrics `Cat Food' has some cool spots, but a lot of everything else is simply a carbon copy of the first album. The title track is virtually a remake of `Epitaph', `Cadence and Cascade' replaces `I Talk to the Wind', and while the booming Mellotron of `The Devil's Triangle' is certainly impressive, there's no actual tune. Just a mood piece that doesn't really go anywhere...Still a decent album, but at least `Lizard', which I don't even like very much, was a complete reinvention. `Trespass' I still jump back and forth with, one listen I think it's almost the equal of their other albums from the same period, the next I think it's quite engaging....this time was the latter!

Damn, I thought I would convince you it's good Good for me then
I think "Cat Food" is the only good track from it. The copies of the debut get on my nerves and "Devil's Triangle" is much more boring than "Moonchild". Lizard is awesome
Do you mean unengaging? It's funny that they sound like a completely different band on "The Knife". It has that raw energy that they perfected on their next album. Nursery Cryme is currently my favourite.

| Oh I know Sam! When you are into so many sounds and various artists it's a bit difficult to lean all of your attention into one artist for a solid length of time. I love ze Floyd. They are one of the very few bands where I know I will revisit until I'm old and grey. They are a sonic staple in my domain. :) For the record, I love saucerful and I'd take it over piper anyday, but hey that's me. Oh and Piper does sound more life like in mono. I find the tonality of the instruments to sound more life like/realistic sounding. ;) Python Blue? This is a pretty cool artist. He is a one man synth wizard named Christopher Low, who embodies an 80's and 90's synth pop/new wave sound that actually sounds a bit futuristic oddly. You can find all kinds of retro charm in Python Blue's music ranging from Gary Numan, new order, Depeche mode and even the sisters of mercy. Most of the music is instrumental and Python Blue is available on Bandcamp. :)

Yeah, it is. I never heard the third one, only the first two.
Speaking of Magma, last year I found Sl*g Tanz in the Metal section and yesterday I found on the same store their other EP in Jazz... their music really is hard to describe

Also yesterday: Pink Floyd – Ummagumma (live disc. That version of Saucerful really is completely different, especially the last part, but I can appreciate both.)

Today and yesterday's live music affair.
Arena-- Breakfast In Biarritz ( beautiful recording and has the best version of Moviedrome to date. ) Dream theater-- The Score (cd version disc 2 only. ) the mother of all DT live albums! Arena-- Live&Live ( holy sh*t! Does anyone have this live album? The A&R quality is insanely good. Arena-- XX ( agh. Not happy. SQ has made this album lifeless and me feeling pissed off at the Metal Mind label. ) Metallica--- S&M ( seriously enjoying this one. What a great revisit! ) Fields of the Nephilim-- earth inferno ( all hail Andy Jackson!!!)

OK, you're going to want to hear that third album, Sam, the sax is out of this world, and the album has this really murky, plodding grooving heaviness. One of the sexiest RPI albums I know for sure! Tonight's choices: King Crimson – Lizard (Soooooooo much better than `Poseidon’!) Pink Floyd – Ummagumma (solo studio disc) Cosmic Circus Music – Wiesbaden 1973 (a stunner if you dig lo-fi fully improvised spacey krautrock sounds) Egg – The Polite Force Tear Gas – s/t Icecross – s/t Bon Hansson - Attic Thoughts Womega – A Quick Step Memoriance – Et Apres Magma – Sl*g Tanz Mystery – Delusion Rain Seven Steps to the Green Door – Fetish (stunning modern album)

Yesterday: Sound of Contact - Dimensionaut (this is definitely a grower in the trust sense of the word) Dungen - Allas Sak Klaus Schulze - X Cardiacs - Sing to God Hedersleben - Fall of Chronopolis (getting better and better - genuinely reminds me of Amon Düül ll) PFM - Storia di un Minuto Pseudo/Sentai - Bansheeface Ryley Walker - Primrose Green The Tea Club - Grappling (to me this really does sound like a modern take on Genesis - without being a copycat. Not many bands can pull this off) Ukandanz - Awo (freaky Ethiopean zeuhl music that makes my body shake uncontrollably)
