I wish our US friends would be a bit more explaining in their posts. People outside of the USA are not familiar with American TV, so something like "Frasier" makes absolutely no sense to me.

Take a look at Jean's post about "Tatort" on the previous page. She takes into account that people from other countries are not familiar with that series and explains it.

^ No one's missing out on an explanation of a show about a pompous, sexually confused manchild spun-off from an equally vapid show about a bar full of idiots.

"Frasier" was just an example for the one-word posts in this thread.

Unlike German TV which is largely thoughtful and cultured, TV in the states is more of an escape.   I just finished watching Antiques Roadshow followed by Seinfeld-- not exactly exercises of the intellect.

You have a wrong impression of German TV. Some 30 or 40 years ago, when there were only the two public-service channels ARD and ZDF, it may have been that way, but ever since commercial TV channels like RTL or SAT1 came up in 1984 the quality of German TV has gone down drastically. And that includes the public-service channels as well.

The only channels that still maintain a high quality are ARTE and 3SAT. But they are being watched by very few people (Jean and I do).

In a 2010 survey half of German television viewers said they often found nothing to watch on television.

Well there you go.   In a few years you'll understand why this thread is so monotonous.   But we get okay discussions in Discuss/Rate Recently Watched Movies, Read Any Good Books Lately and Logan's recent Looking for TV, cinima, books .

Since you decide to stick to your one-word answers (I see "Rockford flies" as one word) I will do the same from now on. You will soon see how annoying that can be.

360°

And no, "360°" is not the name of a news broadcast.
