I never really exchanged views much with the clown, so I cant say if Jester is a reincarnation or a fraud!!

I dont care, really. I shall treat him with the respect all Newbies deserve, and if he is the clown - which I think he is - I'll not ignore him this time round.

Welcome Dead Velvet Jester Clown

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

It's a fairly good book. It's basically half an autobiography and half a book about Zappa's thoughts and ideas about different things.

Dead Jester, is your signature from the Frank Zappa Autobiography? I remember something like that in there.

Why? God forbid that anyone should have an off-day! Tsk tsk!
Sanctimonious, you two,nah.
Probably just an off day!

He left because he was breaking the rules?
Where did you get that one from?
Or did you just make it up?Wink

Obviously he didnt choose to leave beacause he was breaking rules, that is not what i meant. I believe that if he hadnt left of his own accord he shouldve been suspended or given a strict warning. If he hadnt broke rules he would still be here no doubt.

We are not at school here!~

He was accused of profanity. If that refers to the "Jesus loves you" thing then I have issues with this. As an atheist I don't believe in profanity or blasphemy. You might say respect my beliefs, I say keep them to yourself.I believe Jesus existed, the balance of probabilities based on references to him by Josephus and others suggests this to be true. However, the majority of people on this planet do not believe he was God or a god. If the graphic said "Velvet loves you, every one else thinks you are a c....." then it would be quite right to object based on that word and the original graphic is objectionable for the same reason, but objecting purely because of the Jesus reference, combined with the obscene word-no way!

If I said "Van Der Graf Generator" are crap it wouldnt be a well thought out statement because it doesnt explain why I think this.I use a mild swear word but no one is really going to take issue with it, just the sentiment of my statement.

If I said "Jesus says Van Der Graf Generator are crap" whilst a ridiculous thing to say it, it is merely a statement ( an untruth) but suddenly I am moving into the realms of blasphemyy and I could be in danger of crossing the line on profanity.
Joren and SwintonMcr have made valid points regarding "how do we know where the line is", in fact (no disrespect to Swint) SwintonMcr's thread about being caught with his pants down, is in my view, far more coarse and objectionable than most of VC's posts.Yet many, myself included, added comments to this, giving the post "acceptibility." Some very red faces out there I hope!

Of course this site is designed to allow us to express are thoughts and feelings on Progressive Rock. In most cases it is the only thing we have in common. However, surely every other facet of life should not be "off topic"  and surely humour has a place too. You only have to watch Dutch television to see that humour is a very subjective issue. You only have to watch French Lingerie commercials to realise that what is acceptable in one country might be considered inappropriate for others. I am not asking for a licence to post anything and everyone should just accept it, I am asking that one or two people aren't allowed to dictate what is unacceptable and indecent for the rest of us.

Peace.

Confused

I do miss all of my friends ( I now know who they are )  So no more " Pornographic pics " we all know that sex is harmful and so is the truth. I´m back as Dead Jester, the King killed the Jester because he broke some stupid rules. Thanx for all the Tea and Sympathy and to the rest of you GROW UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  and avoid me

He broke the forum's decorum.

He refused to undo his work and left for 20 seconds. And now where all awaiting his return. Will be a sooner return if whe stopped talking about him.

BTW. who has spotted the clown so far. and what is his new name?

Send answers in a closed envelop to a lonely old senior, for they hardly get any mail. And this time of year it would be a nice thing to do.
