Do me a favour and change this to the original Chilean cover (1981) ![]() When you go there, consider this improvement - Eduardo "Gato" Alquinta / lead vocals, electric & acoustic guitars, bass, cuatro (folk acoustic guitar), sampoņa (panpipe), quena (flute), ocarina, tarka (blockflute) - Mario Mutis / bass, electric guitar, sampoņa (panpipe), quena (flute), tarka (blockflute), vocals - Eduardo Parra / Fender Rhodes electric piano, Mini-Moog, tarka (blockflute) - Claudio Parra / grand piano & Fender Rhodes, Mini-Moog, harpsichord, marimba, tarka (blockflute) - Gabriel Parra / drums, chimes, marimba, bombo legüero (bass drum), xylophone?, trutruca (traditional "trumpet"), tarka (blockflute), vocals Guest musicians: - Alberto Ledo / all instruments (1): sampoņas (panpipes), trutruca (traditional "trumpet"), trompe (mouth harp), bombo legüero (bass drum) - Patricio Castillo / quena (flute) (4), tarka (blockflute) (5) These credits are the same, I guess, for the CD part of this http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=34379 Which by the way lacks a better description of its contents And I call your atention to the existence of a Video-only release here http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=7836 It would be nice to consolidate all information; do you want to evaluate the situation and point me the directions to what could be done? ^ Thanks, changed the cover (long time ago I wanted to replace it, but then decided that CD cover is better known). Anyway you're right, we have to keep original artwork.
Will sort out the rest later (too busy till the end of this week). But I see some questions will arise. 1. - Eduardo "Gato" Alquinta / lead vocals, electric & acoustic guitars, bass, cuatro (folk acoustic guitar), sampoņa (panpipe), quena (flute), ocarina, tarka (blockflute) - Mario Mutis / bass, electric guitar, sampoņa (panpipe), quena (flute), tarka (blockflute), vocals - More othen I see it's written as zampoņa. - Tarka is not listed among Gato's and Mario's instruments on many editions, though this one http://https://www.discogs.com/Los-Jaivas-30-A%C3%B1os-Alturas-De-Macchu-Picchu/release/3923970 mentions it. Looks like this release has the most detailed description. 2. - Gabriel Parra / drums, chimes, marimba, bombo legüero (bass drum), xylophone?, trutruca (traditional "trumpet"), tarka (blockflute), vocals - What's wrong with xylophone? - As a Los Jaivas fan I know how trutrucas look and sound, but when I read traditional "trumpet" I imagine something different. I propose to exclude this explanation. - Mentioned CD+DVD release also lists campanas tubulares (tubular bells) among Gabriel's instruments. Edited by NotAProghead - February 03 2016 at 14:38 |

A small contribution to help you sort it out
- Of couse it's zampoņa, my mistake; I began to write the english equivalent "siku" and when decided to propose instead the original spanish (makes more sense, in the context) mistyped the poor pipe name. - Much more detailed, yes, let's use it - Well, trumpet is for sure a poor comparison, hence the marks (but is referenced as being its family) - Xylophone can be used as a generic designation of a type of wooden instruments that include the marimba, no sense repeating I guess. - Chimes or tubular bells, your choice, they're synonymous Edited by Quinino - February 03 2016 at 16:37 |

^ Even if Wiki reads "Tubular bells (also known as chimes)" (http://https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tubular_bells) I can tell chimes and tubular bells are quite different instruments.
Chimes usually means something like this: ![]() Tubular bells: ![]() Even I can hear the difference in sound.

^ You should be ashamed of treating me like this
![]() (My youngest boy is a percussionist and I've seen/listened him playing both, could have asked beforehand and spare me this unfortunate error) Bottom line: cover says Campanas Tubulares and right translation is Tubular Bells not Chimes, the guys at discogs f**ked it again. ahhh.. the unsung heroes of this site.
Well done guys. While the rockstars of the website get all the beer, blow, and broads they can handle (and even more in retirement) you all toil away in obscurity making it all look good. Have a beer on me guys and keep up the good work. ![]() |
