What albums did you listen to today?

I was never a massive fan, although I did gladly get their albums that ran from `Cowboys from Hell' through to `The Great Southern Trendkill', and I especially thought `Far Beyond Driven' and that `Trendkill' were superb. I was more of a Metallica fan at that stage, to be honest, but I never got rid of the CD's. However, I put away everything that was pretty much UN-prog related in boxes a few year back and stored them in a cupboard. It was annoying, after I saw your post with that album mentioned, I went to my shelves to dig it out and remembered `Oh yeah....' I would take a bit of time searching through endless boxes to locate them!

Alpha Wave Movement – Harmonic Currents (those who love Steve Hillage’s `Rainbow Dome Musick’ should adore this)

Mansun – Six (never gets old this one, Sagi!)

Great, Sam, cool you dug that Mondo Drag album! I agree the instrumental is the best piece, the singer is perfectly decent if unmemorable, just not great and not terrrible either! Doesn't let the music down, though, and I'm definitely buying it next payday. The cover will look lovely on vinyl!

Can't go wrong with Mansun, Sam, you can probably pick up their albums (especially go for the schizophrenic super-proggy `Six' first, I don't there's ever been a supposed `pop' album ever like it) dirt-cheap on Ebay, etc. I've got that one on double-vinyl too (just look at that cover!).

I like `Aum', it's only problem is that it's not as good as the first album (which is not a very fair comparison). You know how much that first one means to me, so pretty much anything would have had trouble living up tpo it for me. But on its own merits, there's a ton of ideas, and it's plenty Krautrock-flavoured still. I seem to recall you've got a copy of that one on LP?

How did you go with `World's Apart'? I listened to it a few weeks back, I still enjoy it, but it's pretty much a pleasant undistracting background listen at best.

`2112' (hey, I got it right this time, I think I was calling it `2012' last time! )....You know, I do find the second side is perfectly good on that one as well as the more appreciated epic side-long title track!

`Nude'...I think it's frequently very good, but not the total return to form classic some people seem to think of it as.

^ Guys for me I would rate Nude higher than anything in the 80's and higher than some of their 90's and 70's albums. I just love every second of this album.

I was only able to listen to the title track today, which I really liked, it seems like progressive britpop. I'll listen to the rest later
