Bought at a Barnes & Noble store:
Yes - Fragile
Yes - Close to the edge
Yes - Relayer

The price was right, and I would no longer have to apologize for my limited knowledge of Yes. Have to admit that I was impressed with the instrumentation. Jon Andersons voice annoys me though. I wish they were all purely instrumental except for Roundabout, which is as nice as ever. I still need to get Tales From Topographical Oceans.

Just came in the mail;

Adrian Belew - Lone Rhino
Adrian Belew - Twang Bar King

Never had them in CD form. It seems I also made a mistake with Adrian Belew's Desire Caught by the Tail, because it came as a cassette. Once again I had it as a record, which I dubbed over to a CD. The whole idea was to get a proper CD, but it ends up coming as a CD! Oh well, try again later.

Holy mother of Ford!! That is the source right there. Be careful with that thing - it's been known to make grown men mad and women absolutely hysterical.
I am a big fan myself but it didn't happen instantly. I had a hard time with the music to begin with. The altogether strange way of weaving pieces together and the choral outbursts happening in all the "wrong" places literally made my head spin. Heh....I love his style now though, but yes I still vividly remember the honeymoon

How have you fared with the ol Igor? Has it started to make sense yet or is it still incredibly confusing?

Yeah, this is something that it takes a little time to come to terms with, but I'm making progress, and I think Igor is also helping me to be reincarnated in more enlightened form next time the wheel spins Wink

Suffice to say that I spent a whole weekend listening just to these discs at the proper level of volume (wife was away, the neighbours hate me already...). And the more I listened, the more it made sense, although at the same time I seemed to become a small dark blue alien presence in my own kitchen.

Digging the hell out of it, but in order to retain semi-anthropoid shape I am now only listening to a couple of discs a week.

I reckon Les Fous d'Or is your acid test: once you start to realise its genius, you have grokked l'essence d'Igor Thumbs Up

LOL This conversation is a slow mover I'll give it that.
Sorry, but I've been swamped in school work and faaaar too much drink during the holiday...so I kinda forgot about this.
Either way, I'm definitely glad that I'm not the only one who found Igor a tough cookie to crack. I gather you're onto something about Les Fous d'Or....but then again I feel the same about Docteur Faust.
But once this primal Indian-like zeuhl music starts making sense, it really does make an impression unlike anything else I've heard.

Oh and a full weekend of nothing but Igor?LOLLOLLOL
Good times. I remember them fondly - my mom took this picture the last time I spent that much time with my French friend:
“The Guide says there is an art to flying or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.”

^ And that was when you were twenty!  This stuff has side effects LOL

Don't know if I have a favourite, yet, among Igor's works. Docteur Faust is pretty great, Nagual too. Les Fous D'Or is the soundtrack for those times when I feel the need to take out my left brain hemisphere and fry it with onions and a few scallops.

Hope the New Year celebrations were thoroughly enjoyable!  A week's recovery time seems entirely reasonable.
