on the langos, I see a lot of recipes on the web, but it's hard to know which will give the best (most authentic) result.  If I find one that works well, I will let you know. 
 
 


I generally make bread pudding (sweet or savory) with homemade bread, which makes all the difference in my opinion. My bread machine is one of the best purchases I ever made in my life, especially since - as a native Italian - I am not crazy about the over-sweetened, pre-packaged bread you get here.

I agree, I go with homemade whenever possible (my daughter's favorite is focaccia), but opt for the in-house bakery at the grocery when I don't have time. I certainly avoid the packaged stuff - it's just tastes like unflavored cotton to me.
