nope... I know people out here on the right coast think it is.  All trees, rain, and granola munching leftists..  there is a whole other 2/3rds of the state to the east of the Cascades.

I go thru Burns Oregon once a year. Being an avid birder we show up in the Spring in Malheur for the annual bird migration. This is some of the most remote spots in the lower 48 states. This is cowboy country and there are ranches there which take an hour to drive through.

The redneck contingent is still pretty strong up there, and the religious scene is big.   Plenty of old hippies though, and now plenty of pot-smokers who're loving life.

Much more geopolitically relevant than a bunch of roundeye Yukio Mishima wannabes in Oregon:

It looks like the Shi'a-Sunni conflict is really happening after the Syrian Civil War went global, if anything's gonna trigger a Third World War it's going to be this. See also the ongoing civil war in Yemen, which is woefully underexposed in the Western media.

The Saudi Shia guy that was decapitated, he was not a terrorist never has been one, nor has he ever preached any violence.

I don't think Cenk Uygur argued that, just that he's been executed for terrorism and promotion of violence by the Saudi Arabian authorities.

The Saudis have been protected far too much by the western media.

Things are getting really really bad in Yemen that's for certain: In addition to the Shi'a-Sunni civil war that's overshadowed by the one in Syria, the country is now seeing an outbreak of Dengue Fever. Since it again seems nowhere as internationally recognized as the Ebola epidemic in Western Africa there was worries about going global a while back, which the relevant countries have now gotten under control, this might have the potential to become a global pandemic as well.

The murders of war are always horrible, but when the trusted family unit turns on itself like this?

http://news.sky.com/story/1617146/missing-sian-blake-search-three-bodies-found

I don't and have never followed Eastenders, and although seeing stories of these sort of family murder sprees before, it has shocked me that it's happened in the seemingly impenetrable safety of Television Acting?

R.I.P. Sian Blake and her unfortunate children.
Her husband must have killed himself out of disgrace, surely?

Militia occupying government buildings in Oregon might not be a big deal in Denmark but here in the American West it is big news.

Yeah, I imagine that with first the Charleston church bombing in fresh memory a lot of Americans are probably worrying about a new wave of far-right terrorism... it's just that the Iran embassy burning is the kind of thing that might ignite a WWIII so I'm surprised there's no posts about it.

The Oregon situation is just the type of confrontation which led to the Oklahoma Federal Building bombing. Of course I agree the situation in the middle east always has the potential to lead to a global confrontation. I think the Oregon situation will be defused when these occupiers realize their call to arms is not producing the results they want.
