Was it George Carlin or Dawkins who said that religion should be confined to one's bedroom (or something along those lines)?  I vehemently disagreed with that statement the first time I heard it but increasingly I think it makes sense.  If indeed religion is so personal it should not be brought to the public domain.  The point people often miss is organised religion is like an industry.  And these religions indulge in cutthroat competition, just like large transnational organisations.  Except that in the process they alienate people against each other, encourage or condone bloodshed, wars in the name of establishing religious superiority, support socially regressive practices and encourage blind faith over science (including, as in India, the cold blooded murder of rationalists who fought against superstition).

At the ground level, most educated believers seem to agree that religion can and should be reformed; and certainly it should not be used as an instrument to divide people or discriminate against them.  So who's stopping that from happening?  It's the religious heads who are too scared of losing their core constituency of fundamentalist/orthodox followers.  In such a scenario, it is the heads of state who will need to act and take a tough, politically incorrect stance.  I say just shut down all public places of worship - turn them into monuments, libraries or schools, whatever you like.  But no more temples, mosques and churches (excluding other places of worship for brevity!). Pray to YOUR God within the four walls of YOUR home.  Have a portrait of Jesus or tiny idols of whichever of 33 crore Hindu Gods you worship and pray to your heart's content.  Which is what I do.  I am not an atheist.  But one thing I have never understood is the compulsion to visit some mass place of worship to 'validate' your faith.  Really?  If God is everywhere and in everything, what's so special about a man made place of worship?  Seems like nothing more than an instrument to keep delusion alive in the 21st century.  Along with, also cap the corpus of religious organisations at a level that no longer resembles the balance sheet of MNCs. Hopefully, once the hands of organised religion are thus severely weakened, its potential to divide people will also decline.

Funny that in some parts of the world, being drunk and abusive is quite alright and acceptable. These bitches are not racist, they are uneducated, rude, philthy, drunk, stupid, frustrated, ugly both in mind and body and probably have not had ANY love in decades. Embarrassed

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."  ~ Martin Niemöller

The clappie makes you a Warmonger.

This is real life not a video game. Grow up ffs.
I tried to look at those video links but only lasted 2 seconds, two vids, the rest couldn't get myself to go  go there. I hate violence, hate speech too, politics really affects me although I am not involved in any of it, but I do feel sad and hurt for others and people in Government due to their political reasons are willing to trade their moral rights, to me life is black and white and all else sickens me.  I might not be directly affected by these cruel double sided views, I do feel so sad and really bad in the pit of my stomach for those who are innocent and all they did is being born in the wrong country at the wrong time. Can't people see this? Are we really this evil cold?
look at this pic and say you don't feel it too, this makes me cry so much, not fair!

This quote was under a news article about exactly what we were talking about earlier.  The man that commented this could have easily been a professor or a political commentator etc... That is all I was inferring. I indicated that "it was just on FB" basically, as well.
Really?

Do you take everything literally?

116 likes for an ironic posts means that 116 people get the irony of the statement, not 116 people agree with the statement itself.

Only after you were called out on it. When you posted originally, you were only more than happy to lay that out there as if it was a cold hard fact of widespread left-wing ideology (as you see it) and used it to make whatever point you were hoping to make, random and all-over-the-place as it was. You integrated that simple Facebook comment and it's 116 likes into your view of the left as a whole, which is just absurd. And it reflects why so few of us can have a constructive political argument in this country anymore.

Was the man who made that comment a professor or political commentator? And why would it matter anyway? You're playing fast and loose with your implications, and created a very flimsy strawman that was pretty quickly shown to be so.

I'm simply stating that there is a percentage of people who believe in what Trump said and there is an equal amount of people who believe in the "FB fiasco".  It's true. Get your heads around it.
Better still get your head around this:

When an clown like Trump makers an idiotic statement someone will use sarcastic irony to point out how idiotic the clown's statement was. For example when a clown makes an idiotic statement about deporting immigrants and someone on  facebook then asks: ""When can we deport all Christians based on the actions of a few?" they are being sarcastic and using the numptiness of the clown's statement in an ironic way. It is a good bet that a fair proportion of the 116 people who liked that post didn't take it literally but simply got the irony.

How many innocent civilians were killed by those bombs and missiles?

where is the heartfelt compassion to the innocent people? All you guys care is about what you heard on the news, (from all or any side perspective) media, IT DOES NUMB US BUT IT SHOULDN'T.

My stand against this nonchalant is to say "f**k you" all you just because these issues do not affect you currently.
Ok I said "f**k you", ban me from PA. This is meaningless compared to all the cruel evil around us and sheep people who just don't care about others and ignore it.

I suspect the truth is that warmongers like Svetonio don't care who dies or who gets injured or maimed or how many families are bereft by the killing of their loved ones as long as one terrorist dies in the process.

Explosions to me are meaningless. They have bomb shelters, the innocent don't.

How you think that ISIS would be destroyed? On which way?
Hey Kati, I got idea! Just send to jihadists a few of your big hugs, it will be very helpful LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

Aha... It's more clear now. So it means when the U.S. Air Force and (or) RAF is bombing ISIS that's great,  but  when Russians are bombing those "innocents" jihadists, then you are "sad".
Give me a break, Kati.
