Albums I've been spinning and digging over the past week or so:
Hedersleben - The Fall Of Chronopolis (Psychedelic prog with hints of Amon Düül ll. They remind me of Goat who also sports a female vocalist a la Renate Knaup) La Conscienza di Zeno - La Notte... (Modern by the numbers RPI. Sounds like most other Italian prog bands.) La Curva di Lesmo - s/t (This one speaks more to me, although I am not completely sold by the vocals. The organs though sound incredible) Mammatus - Sparkling Water (If Popol Vuh was a metal act) Simon Steensland - A Farewell to Brains (Wonderful almost Canterburian sounding avant-prog) 3 of those deserve to be on my list, but I have no space left ![]() |

So does this mean that you still haven't heard the new Elephant9 album? |

Hah... their debut is one of my favourite records, quite a bit more out there and creative than where they are now (though I like the catchy but strange indie pop of this record), but I'm not sure that it'll do much for you, seeing as the vocals have only gotten stronger and less weird over time. And cheers, yeah, Kendrick is just that good, hits all the right spots, especially in the second half.

The lack of new Rune Grammophones in America is very upsetting. Anyone know what's up with his? (Mostly Bearded bard here...)
Finally getting around to doing this...top 20 will be a bit of a stretch, though I have a good list that I still need to hear.

Some very cool lists up - thanks you guys
![]() Oh and I like your style Kazza! So cool to see that you've got Kendrick at the top. (That Everything Everything album though...yikes. Bought it on a whim earlier in the year and I can only stand two tracks at a time. I think it's the vocals.)

The new Sunn O))) was pretty good. Nothing new for them, but probably their most melodic album insofar as melody is possible with them.

I listened to the debut last year and really dug what I was hearing. Haven't purchased it though for some reason...and I've even had a few Runegrammofon hauls since. Anyway, thanks for the heads up on the new one. Definitely going to investigate. I like Sl*g Tanz but I'd rather listen to the original ![]() Btw what's the best way of going about wooing Norwegian chicks? A new substitute started in the kindergarten I'm currently working in. I was thinking about doing something quirky with my beard (which by now has reached monstrous mass), but I wanted to check with an inside man, who also happens to be a beard connoisseur, before venturing any further. |

Deantoni Parks, who was the last drummer for The Mars Volta (on Noctourniquet), as well as a frequent collaborator with John Cale, Flying Lotus, Meshell Ndegeocello, etc, has released an album called Technoself, which is streaming here. It's all him playing drums with his feet and left hand, while playing keys/triggering samples with the right, like he did in Volta spinoff band Bosnian Rainbows, but it's pushed much much further here. It's all live or live in studio, no loops. Check it out if you like experimental electronic music of sorts.
