Where've you been my friend? I hope you and the family are doing good
Cool to see Dungen's new in there. What do you think about it? I'm listening to it right now and digging the hell out of it!
Just out of curiosity: which of those GG albums do you like the most? I've really been getting into Three Friends over the last couple of years, but ATT is still my alltime fave.
Oh and come by the 2015 Picks thread if you're looking for some AOTY contenders (most of which are to be found on PAs spotify list)
Thanks budd!
Yes it has been a while actually, things have been really busy here, I honestly couldn't even find the time to fart
Anyway it seems like it's cooling down now and I'm back on listening to music for a change.
I was really waiting for another Dungen album, I've only played it twice by now but my first impression is really really good! it definitely sound more interesting than Skit I Allt. First of all it's always enjoyable to listen to Dungen since their sound is just so amazing and beautiful. Again as opposed to Skit I Allt (sorry I know you love it) which I've only played maybe two or three times too, it seems like the melodies here are better and the music has a little more room to breath, I might call it more progy too.
And of course Reine Fiske is tha man!
Although GG were one of the first bands I got into when I was just starting the prog journey and since then I've listened to hundreds of hundreds of bands they still remain one of the best bands I ever knew.
why? well besides the outstanding level of songwriting and playing, they've released one great album after the other for so many years, they are one of those few bands that I can't choose an album that I think is better than the other, they are all so so good. But funny that you mentioned ATT I honestly always had an obscure attraction for that album, maybe it's that cool opening theme with the keys and that psychedelic flow it has.
It's good to hear from you my friend, and I'm really looking forward for recommendations, I'd love something new.

Glad you got it, mate. The `mystery CD' is related to Anthony Kalugin of the Karfagen project. I don't think it's on the Archives, but I might be mistaken. It's a busy mixed bag of styles, see what you think.
I've only listened to the first of the two TD concerts. Sound-wise it's terrific, but the concert is pretty dark and quite hostile in a few spots. Won't be an easy one to play over and over, but as I've always said, back then all their live shows were like brand new complete works. Edgar's Mellotron gets a big workout on it, though, sounds really scratchy and relentless!

Never heard of Karfagen either but I'm curious to hear it.
That's not surprising for a 1974 concert Good to know it has great quality, I'll have to listen to other live albums eventually.
I've just recently gotten into Karfagen and became an instant fan.
Bandcamp calls the music Progressive Symphonic Prog and Anthony Kalugin says that on the 2015 release "7" he wanted to recreate the tone of late seventies prog.
The bio says Kalugin's influences were Camel, Focus and The Alan Parson's Project.
I suggest you start with the new one (7) and if you like it work backwards.

Sam, I've got the last four CD's from 2011 onwards - `Lost Symphony' (Camel/Snow Goose fans would go mental for that one), `Aleatorica (which I've never listend to! ), `Magician's Theater' (great!) and the new one `7', but that only arrived a week ago and I haven't spoun it yet. Beautfiul artwork is a nice first impression!
Better get onto spinning it, with that end of year Top 20 voting on the way.

You're right, Tom, 1981. I've spun the first few tracks on Youtube now...
The first one, `Ballet' is repetitive and dreadful flat vocals, but the New-Wave synths are not so bad. I've listened to it a few times and it improves on repeat listens.
But the second track is far more interesting, really dark and fascinating synths and programming, kind of reminds me of the later Air albums?
Maybe take a chance if you come across it cheap up your way?
