A little-known Mod-Punk band from 1981, "The Act" included Nick Laird-Clowes (later of Dream Academy) who was then singing almost like Bruce Springsteen; also Mark Gilmour, who was in the Scarlet Party, and whose brother David was in Pink Floyd.

Sounds more like Elvis Costello clones to me....but a decent track nevertheless..
