He played in PF. Thus he's an amazing drummer.

He has his moments (Pompeii, mostly) but I wouldn't go as far as calling him the best in a list full of great drummers like this

Mason may not be the most technical drummer, but he does what he does so perfectly, and he's really creative. Before I had any clue about anything musical, I saw the Pompeii film (when I was 13) and thought Mason was an absolute monster on the kit. Some things stick, you know.......
Kerslake and Wilson's style I find rather bland.

Voted for Wilson. Mason is an ordinary drummer but a great writer and observer of people.

speaking of Nick Mason: gas anyone heard his "Fictitious Sports" album? it sounds in parts like the lost Pink Floyd album, although it has some tracks that are faster than any Pink Floyd track ever. here an example from that album that is not so Floydish:

I know I voted for Jaki but I'd still like to mention the one and only John French. While he may not be the most technically gifted drummer out there he still played on Trout Mask Replica. In many ways he reminds me of Amon Düül ll drummer Peter Leopold in that he plays some of the most awkward rhythms and breaks known to man. He does things that shouldn't work yet do.

The much-underrated Andy Ward!

Jaki and Pierre are in my personal Top 3, with Vander. Guy Evans is a favorite too.

Voted Jaki.

good choices. Mani Neumeier of Guru Guru is very underrated, as well as Christian Burchard of Embryo.

just listen to Mani Neumeier here:

or Christian Burchard here:

^^Wow Clap! Thanks for those links.
I've a copy of Steig Aus and heard a couple of Embryo's songs on the web.
I'm not that familiar with Guru Guru, think I heard UFO once.

Need more albums from these bands in my collection Embarrassed
