Breaking news on PA. Steven Wilson's new album, entitled "4 ½" hits spot number 24 on Best Prog Albums Ever, beating out Miles Davis, Gentle Giant and *gasp* Steven Wilson himself. Is there anything this man cannot do?????

I wouldn't be surprised unfortunately, I honestly don't get why he's so popular.

^ I enjoy all of SW solo material, but I really love Porcupine Tree and the heaviness. On the HCE tour he played Sectarian from GFD, but explained he changed the arrangement so the song was heavier, more metal....It sounded like a PT song off In Absentia........nice.

He didn't play "Sectarian" but played "Sound of Muzak" and "Open Car" here two months ago

On the Raven that Refused to Sing tour he played Radioactive Toy, and it was amazing (Theo Travis added to the solos). Actually, that was an amazing concert, I wonder why he didn't release any concert from that tour... it would be one of my favourite live albums or videos ever. |

There is one thing he cannot do: prevent his albums from being overrated by people who haven't even heard them yet .

well I had read in the interview earlier this year that he planned everything already about his next album... so I was shocked about this news like how could you release a album, tour half a year and then release a new album...so I thought it must be smth else and yeah its the songs from the albums session

Interesting. Even though HCE isn't a fav, I am interested in hearing the stuff deemed no good for it.

At the second Montreal show of the HCE tour, which I attended, Wilson played How is Your Life today and Trains.
From setlist.fm they played lots o' PT -- http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/steven-wilson/2015/royal-albert-hall-london-england-73f4da81.html -- including 90's stuff

Should be interesting to see these outtakes. The Raven cut should be good, I'm wondering what the headpaint cuts are like. Considering how dull the album's tracks were after the first two, could it be that these are diamonds carelessly left in the rough, or just more soot?

Here in Seattle on HCE tour he did play Sleep Together, which was freaking awesome..so loud and hard, it was great. Would love to have heard Trains.....
BTW: I just pre-ordered 4 1/2 from Burning Shed. Edited by Catcher10 - November 06 2015 at 18:45 |

Agreed, Sleep Together was fantastic - and fit within the context of the show remarkably well. I also attended shows that were part of the Raven tour. Radioactive Toy was a fantastic encore - probably the best version of that song I've heard. I would love to have a recording of that...
