I looked over my 2015 album purchases and noticed I only have one prog album released this year (I've bought a couple 2013 and 2014 albums, though): La barque ailée by Breton symphonic rock band Seven Reizh, influenced by Genesis, Camel, Pink Floyd, Yes, and Crimson (among others).
I heartily recommend it to those not averse to world music influences, string accompaniment, and the gentler side of prog. As for other 2015 releases, I plan on buying Jarre's upcoming Electronica 1: The Time Machine and Sequentia Legenda's Schulze-influenced Blue Dream (which I actually discovered on PA a few days ago). |

Somewhere between Krautrock, Pharoah Sanders, Don Cherry, electronic drone and Sufi music you'll find the new Danish band Shiggajon. I for one am dying to get a little more intimate with this crab.

CHON-Grow
I saw them with The Dear Hunter recently. The Dear Hunter seem to get a great deal more appreciation, but really bored me out of the club after hearing CHON's set.

Used up a good chunk of my morning sniffing out new prog releases - of which Perfect Beings' new album definitely was the most interesting. Tried out The Dear Hunter's new one as well and felt it sounded like a band on autopilot.
Still to hear the horror soundtrack to Cub by Steve Moore. |

^Hmm, I'm really liking the new Dear Hunter. But its my first experience with them, so I guess I can't dispute the "auto-pilot" comment...

I got into them around the time of their second album simply named Act ll, which is almost as good as their debut (which I still find to be their best), but I would love to see them go further with their sound. Granted, they did do a short pop-rock stint with their last outing Migrant, but apart from that lone cowboy it has pretty much been business as usual regarding their sound. |

New additions to the temple of 2015 include: Eldberg - Par Er Heimur Hugans* (This has been a bit of a slow burner but ultimately proving itself very potent on subsequent listens. Folks into old school organ prog yet with a gifted song-writer's touch should seek out this baby right about now. I even love the Icelandic vocals.) Maat Lander - The Birth Of Maat's Galaxy* (The brothers Fedotov responsible for guitars and drums in Russian psych band Vespero fly into new wobbly and floating sonic territories. Krautrock for the new millennium!) Zombi - Shape Shift* (Brilliant "come back" album from Atlanta's best kept secret. I love the return to a rockier template a la Spirit Animal. Fave track: Siberia ll.) Steve Moore - Cub* (I can totally see how this would work wonders in a horror movie, but I am not overly convinced of it's ability to stand alone as a music album. Still, there is something here. Needs more spins.) Quantum Fantay - Dancing In Limbo* (The Belgians outdo The Ozrics (if only by a smidgen) on their best album since Ugisiunsi. Psychedelic dub prog to scoot your mind out of your brain.)
