Now if he was going to be drumming, I'd go along and see that. But "He said 'Would you respect me? If I didn't have this gun? 'Cos without it, I don't get it, and that's why I carry one!"? I'll pass thanks.

" He told Rolling Stone that he was moving a studio into his home in Miami, Florida and would start recording new music next month."
Ah I can see golden opportunities for Prog purists to get on their high-horse and ridicule Mr Collins for betraying them and bashing his new pop album along the way.
I'll grab the drinks and popcorn while I enjoy the show

Not getting my hopes up. It's been nearly 35 years since he's written something that I've enjoyed. The "money" years happened after Abacab and Face Value, so I'm going in with very low expectations.

"The Peter Gabriel-led lineup of Genesis hasn't played since a one-off reunion in 1982 and they haven't toured since 1975. Fans continue to fantasize about a reunion, which baffles Collins. "I just don't understand that," he says. "They haven't thought it through. Pete won't sing 'Invisible Touch' or 'I Can't Dance.' We'd only do material like 'The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.'" Yes Phil, we have thought this through.

Guys, stop picking on Phil Collins.
And Phil Collins, stop crying like a little baby on how the public haven't paid attention to you since Disney's Tarzan.

I haven't followed the link yet, I don't know what it's about but I guess it's Steve Wilson. Now I go to the link to see if I have guessed correctly...

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

I had a suspicion. I did read an interview on a German News Website with him today. At least he was praising Van der Graaf Generator and early Yes in the interview. Should that make us hopeful? Quote: Van der Graaf Generator were the better Genesis. They were The Best, much darker than all other bands from this era.

When Gabriel and Genesis recorded and toured The Lamb, they were in their twenties. They are now all in their sixties.
Quite why it would be an artistic success to see a balding, aging, man blasting out a story of a young Puerto Rican punk in his youth is utterly beyond me. Gabriel sees this. Why don't "classic" Genesis fans?
The five man reunion will never happen. Neither should it. We have fond, and marvellous, memories of a fantastic band.
As for Collins, I do not begrudge him anything. Good luck to him. He has brought me a lot of pleasure over the years. I did not enjoy his solo output after the exceptional Face Value, but that does not mean he has an obligation to satisfy a bunch of classic prog fans.
Also, btw, it is absolutely the case that a Genesis reunion of the three man band doing the latter day stuff would fill arenas. A reunion of anything else would maybe fill middle ranking venues. Why? Because the three man band sold records by the truckload, and was commercially successful.
Also, Gabriel's solo career has also been wonderful and very successful. Put simply, they really do not need to do anything together at all, apart from remaining good friends, which, I believe, they do.
Leave the past where it belongs. Also, allow Collins the respect he deserves. You do not have to either buy a new record, or see him doing pop. Plenty of others will, and will love every minute of it.
