Transgender means you identify as a different gender than you were born as, physically. A transgender girl was born with a boy's body, a transgender boy was born with a girl's body. But a transgender girl is a girl nonetheless. It isn't some sort of non-binary or intersex thing.

^Ok, I spoke to a transgender friend of mine that said that people who are transgender would probably not care about this, but well meaning people who are not transgender would probably take the ball and run with it. When I asked this person for an alternative, 'undecided' was the suggestion (with a hearty laugh), so Undecided it is.

Yes, Gustavo, I feel that discussing things of this nature and bringing marginalized people into people's focus is very important. I am a proud advocate for gay and lesbian people. But as my friend just told me, this is perhaps not the proper forum for this type of honest discussion.
I would like to start a separate thread in regards to this at a later time.

I would also like to add that reading about a gay, lesbian, transsexual, or transgender person in a Wikipedia is not the same thing as actually knowing a gay, lesbian, transsexual and transgender person. As I said, people can be well meaning but have no personal experience and that is a major problem. A type of ignorance ensues.
And yes, we do still have a long way to go, unfortunately.
