Before:

I Heard You Listening [Explicit]

Now:

One of the greatest albums of the past 20 years

The human equation

It is mindboggling to me how many PAers describe this as "cheesy".  The story telling is pretty much as good as it gets.

^ I don't find "cheesy" a negative connotation. I think Eloy is cheesy, it doesn't mean I don't like their music.

Generally, "cheesy" isn't a compliment unless you're referring to pizza.

Anyhow:

Remember Afflicted, one of the most ambitious and outside-the-box thinking Swedish death metal groups of the early 1990s who kinda sank like a rock because very few people knew exactly what to make of their style? This is a new American group who take most of their inspiration from those Swedes. Apparently they started out as a crust punk outfit and still draw most of their fanbase from that crowd. (which Swedeath also has a large cultural overlap with)

No idea if Nux Vomica are on PA, but if you're interested in a very unique take on DM you need to listen to them.

And now for something more relatively relaxed It's amazing how well this holds up today; Not only does the rhythm section's interplay with Hendrix give the lead guitar heroics a much clearer anchor than with most of Malmsteen, Vai or Satriani's stuff, probably because JH started out his career as a journeyman session musician hence understanding how important band dynamics are; but there's a lot of still-to-this-day creative use of feedback noise to bend individual notes and riffs all out of shape.

It's the kind of record that can be listened to both as a collection of catchy pop/rock songs and an experimental work with a lot of depth.
