Don't write `The Single Factor' off without hearing it, Sam! The poorest stuff is at the beginning, but good stuff does emerg throughout it here and there. I can think of plenty of poorer albums in my collection!
`Moog Raga' is on the remastered CD, I actually find most of those editions contain pretty good extras! The Byrds take on Jefferson Airplane's `Triad' is especially good and it sounds completely different to their version.
Have to stop as you've spent too much on music this month?! I've NEVER had that dilemna, I simply spend more and hope everything else in my life magically comes together - like food, and bills!

What did you think of it?
Symphonic Space Jazz Rock, what's not to love about it?
Yeah, you got a point. Well, as I mentioned in the other thread, I think it's good, borderline very good, but I think there's a bit too many straightforward rock moments on it where not much interesting happens, and where it therefore loses my attention. But it's an interesting example of prog from behind the Iron Curtain, and what they had to do to play their rock music there. I especially find the humming, or should I say non-pronunciation of consonants, on "Planeta H. Bosche II" a creative way of getting around the censorship it was put under for containing the word "heroin". In that respect it's also interesting to hear the song performed live, on the live "Dialog s vesmírem" album, where they sing the actual lyrics (not that I understand any of it ). Surprised they had the nerve to do that, and were allowed to. They performed the full album live before the studio album was released (recorded?), so (and I'm only speculating here, but) those performances were perhaps the reason they had to censor it on the studio album.

Well my friend. I've experienced quite a few flagship headphones paired with top level amps and I realize that what I have at home in living room is that of very good. When you get to a certain tier in quality there really is no such thing as 'better' only 'different.' however the trick is finding that 'difference' that agrees with you the most. It's hard to do, but that's the beautiful adventure that lies with in the audio world.
That's the thing, I don't know on which tier of quality my headphones are, so I'm reluctant to go to a store and check out others, at least expensive ones, in fear of being disappointed with what I've already got. So I'm gonna stick with the ones I have, for now. At least I'm happy with what I've got now, though I suspect they're not of the highest quality. They're much better than my previous headphones, but those were a few years old, so I suspect the difference in quality between the two are just the technological advances done in that field over those few years, i.e. I think my newest ones aren't that much better than my old ones, but they sound better. And in the end, how they sound, and that I'm happy with it, is what's important, right?
Anyway, since my last update:
Wednesday:
Syd Arthur - On an On
Syd Arthur - Sound Mirror
Høst - På sterke vinger
The Esoteric Circle - s/t
Undertakers Circus - Ragnarock (Saw them live for the first time that night. Fun concert, but they played a bit too many Curtis Mayfield covers, and not enough stuff from "Ragnarock", for my taste. I didn't know when I bought the tickets that Jono EL Grande was playing a release concert for his new album the same night. If I'd known I'd probably go see him instead, but UC are an important band in Norwegian rock history, so I'm glad I got to see them live after all. Another one to tick off that long list of bands I want to see live someday. )
Thursday:
Möbius Project - Ra Me Nivar
Semiramis - Dedicato a Frazz
Il Balletto di Bronzo - Ys
Rocky's Filj - Storie di uomini e non
Friday:
Weidorje - s/t
Jaga Jazzist - Starfire
Møster! - When You Cut Into the Present

Still my favourite Nektar album, Sagi! It was one of my first `prog' related albums I ever bought, and I used to overdose on this and Floyd's `Piper'! For some reason, I always place those two side by side.
Guys, that was actually my first spin of this debut, a week ago I only knew their follow up and although I always liked it I wasn't planning to go to the concert, after all it's been 40 years since that album was released. But boy am I glad I eventually went! The concert was simply phenomenal, except for one song (and a good one too) the band played only 70's material. The playing was really tight throughout including all sorts of complex arrangements and some wild fiery solos by the band's leader, I've never heard him like that man, wow! I'm telling you there is something about those 70's guitarists, they have some kind of genuine and true rocknroll spirit to their playing. You could also see these guys are really having fun playing together, always smiling although there were only about 200 people! WTF!! I also shook their hands when the concert was over and I went to pee Anyway a day later I got my self a good looking used copy of the debut, sounds like a terrific album after only one spin.

^ Good to know you had a blast! It's too bad not many people go to Prog concerts (Steven Wilson is the exception ). I also heard the first album the other day, it's quite special

It wasn't a very attentive listen so it didn't seemed straightforward to me. I guess I'll have to listen to the live performance then

Renaissance – Ashes are Burning Genesis - Trespass Fruupp – Future Legends Hawkwind – Live Chronicles Hawkwind – Space Bandits Premiata Forneria Marconi – Paper Charms: BBC Radio One in Concert Cousin Silas – Whispers Fall Pink Floyd – Live in Amsterdam 1969
Premiata Forneria Marconi – Stati di Immaginazione – Sagi, I FINALLY got a CD of this comeback PFM album you always spoke highly of! What can I say, glad to hear not only a massive return to form after their run of poppy/aor/rock albums, but good to hear a first-rate instrumental album in general! Is the `Dracula Rock Opera’ album any good? I do have the one after it, `AD 2010’, on vinyl, and although it’s overlong and a little repetitive in parts, it’s a very tasteful and instrumentally exciting in parts.

I know exaclty what you mean about `Trespass', it's that run in the middle where things get a little more `pleasant', yeah? I still love all of it, but it has the unfortunate curse of being not quite as good as the albums to come!
That Arti e Mestieri debut is a personal favourite of mine! Pretty much 5 star perfection for me!
Yep, `The Dragon' takes time to reveal its scaly charms! I still think it's a krautrock album! Or am I mad?!
I placed an Amazon order for a new batch of westerns on Bluray then randomly did a search for some prog titles, and I found they had 1 single little copy of that PFM album left in stock, so I jumped on it! (at thetime I tried to order it, Greg Walker's Syn-Phonic had sold out of it).
I wasn't actaully aware that it was fully instrumental, I simply remembered that Sagi always spoke very highly of it, and recently Jim also mentioned it. I love that it's grand and ambitious and has plenty of nods to their previous synohonic styles without sounding like they're remaking their past.
I picked up a ton of the classic era PFM albums on Ebay for pretty cheap a few years back, mostly around $7-9 each, if you use the site?
speaking of `classic' and `PFM', I'm very wary to investigate that recent PFM/classical hybrid album! Can't we leave that sort of thing to the New Trolls?!

Exactly! The first two tracks are great and also the last one, but the rest is just pleasant.
I don't know why I didn't listen to it before
No, you're not mad I wasn't much into Krautrock back then so that probably explains it
Good thing you remembered to search it
It's better to be instrumental than having goat vocals
I'm thinking about buying some Italian albums on vinyl next month, Storia and L'Isola are on my list. Strangely, there isn't any new LP reissue contrarily to those two
Never heard that one, who knows, it might be good
I forgot this one: Banda do Casaco - Dos Benefícios dum Vendido no Reino dos Bonifácios

Atomic Rooster – In Hearing Of… Renaissance – Azure D’Or - Still a really fine album from the group, do you have this one yet, Sam? Gentle Giant - Interview Magic Carpet – s/t P.F.M – Live in the USA P.F.M – Paper Charms (disc 2) - This one DOES have goat-boy on vocals! Ishq - Sunflower Julie London – Your Number, Please… - Thanks again for the hook-up, Sam, it’s a wonderful album!
Despite bumbling through nightshift in a daze tonight, I’m heading straight off to a record fair this morning. Providing I don’t pass out there from lack of sleep, I’ll report back my purchases tonight! See, the prog collector has his priorities right – sleep be damned!
