Never heard of Wo Fat. How's the music? Yeah, I know. There was an idiot that sent me a Rush album from the UK on the flimsiest package he could find. I didn't return it but I never ordered anything else.

^ Wo Fat (from Texas) is dark, heavy stoner rock similar to The Machine, Elder, Lonely Kamel, Rotor, etc.
I've been listening to a lot of this style lately and it seems many of these bands are from the US. Maybe there's a rebirth of hard rock going on here.

^ Isn't stoner rock originaly from the US? I don't know any of those bands you mentioned but I like what I'm listening from Wo Fat. There's a Portuguese stoner band that I saw many times live called Miss Lava, they recorded their latest album in LA. I wonder what you think of them

I think 'stoner rock' in essence comes from the UK as something like 99.99% of it's purveyors can trace their sound back to Black Sabbath. Iommi, Butler, Ward and to a lesser extent Ozzy were basically "ground zero" if you will.

I have recently purchased multiple CDs from these bands and others and listen regularly. My love for hard rock goes back to Corrosion Of Conformity and Drowning Pool and before that Heavy Metal bands like Metallica, Megadeth and Testament. One of my favorite hard rock albums of all time is Beck-Ola by the original Jeff Beck Group. They do covers of two Elvis songs, All Shook Up and Jailhouse Rock. I don't know whose idea that was but they sound great.

Nice haul there Gary! That is my favourite Causa Sui album btw - I hope you dig it too! Now that I think of it, most acts on El Paraiso are first and foremost Live bands. They make brilliant albums sure, but there's nothing like seeing Causa Sui or Papir in their natural habitat. |

Speaking of Papir, the other day I came across Papir Meets Electric Moon "The Papermoon Sessions". It's worth a listen and Sam said he liked it so that's two recommendations.

Funny you should say that. The Papermoon Sessions is the only release of theirs that I'm missing. Duly noted, thanks
Another one of their collaborations that comes highly recommended, and this time with the mighty Øresund Space Collective, is 2014s 'Music For Pogonologists'. The double vinyl is saweet

I'll have to look into that, I only listened to one of their live recordings that Michael recommended.

Actually, I did. Would've gladly kept that edition, but the inner sleeve had a tear, so I returned it and got the CD edition I originally ordered. Also,
Received.

So, here's what happened. I went to Bandcamp and started to order the vinyl for 20 euros (about $23) but when I got to the total they wanted 15 euros (about $18) for shipping so I decided to wait. It's not the money as much as it is worrying about the vinyl being damaged between Denmark and California. It is hard for me to resist the "place order" button on PayPal but I'll have to give this some thought. For now, the album is waiting in the shopping cart.

Sorry Gary, I forgot we were talking So what happened - is it still in the shopping cart? (To be fair I've seen my fair share of people on this very forum complaining about damaged LPs due to the shipping. Haven't seen anyone complaining about El Paraiso though, but maybe that's down to it being relatively underground.) |
