Are you the label representative on PA? I might make a big order in a few months, right now I have some 25 new LP's waiting to be turned

Maybe I should be? I don't know - I sure could use some kind of fee for my trouble I guess?
Nahh, it's just rare that I come across such a great psych label....and I think it's grossly overlooked on PA.

Oh yeah!
Oh. Well, I can see how you can feel that way about it, Sam. I feel somewhat the same. There's some tracks on it that could've easily been dropped without diminishing it, but I feel it's a great album as it is as well. It's not perfect, but a masterpiece all the same for me. An imperfect masterpiece, that's what it is!

Yup, great band! I've only heard their last studio album, Droga, but I love that one. Can't wait for their new one to drop in my mailbox!

How did you find them? I saw you got 187 Steps, so, good enough to purchase, I gather. Did you check out Gotic, too, or did you know them already?
Saw you got Jaga Jazzist's three best studio albums as well. Make sure to not miss their live album with Britten Sinfonia. It's their best, IMO. Something really special.

How's that band, David? No, don't tell me, amazing, right?
Seriously though, I'm slowly warming up to Fiske. Wasn't crazy about his two albums with Motorpsycho or his first with Elephant9, but his second with them is great. I also really enjoy the one he did with Paatos, and I adore everything I've heard from Dungen so far, especially the debut and Tio bitar. Is The Amazing something in the vein of Dungen and/or something you'd recommend?

What do you think of it, Nick? I've only listened to it once so far, so my feelings about it may change with further listens, but I got to say, really didn't enjoy it. My favourite part of Coal was on the track "The Valley" where the guitar is played only on top of the beat (I'm sure there's some music lingo word for it I don't know, you understand what I'm talking about?). Anyway, I thought that was a nice touch, but on The Congregation I feel they do that to death, which made it an almost unbearable listen for me.
Anyway, last couple of weeks for me:

As good as I remembered it to be from when I first heard it, on Spotify a few years ago. A really great album, Nick! Probably my second favourite of theirs, after Images and Words.) Dream Theater - Octavarium Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother Pink Floyd - Meddle Agitation Free - Malesch Amon Düül II - Yeti Amon Düül II - Tanz der Lemminge Amon Düül II - Carnival in Babylon Amon Düül II - Wolf City Goat - Commune Naxatras - s/t Godspeed You! Really like Jardin De La Croix and I want to get more. All great musicians and I especially like the guitar work. 187 Steps reminds me a little of Sithu Aye but with a little more variations of style. They are one of the better instrumental rock bands that I've been listening to lately. Gotic is next on the list and then Galahad or Hand Of Taurus.

That's a first listen opinion, but those always change
I chose to listen to that one because it was released on vinyl by a Portuguese label An album called "drug"? That does sounds addictive
I'll have to listen to that one, I love their new album
Speaking of imperfect masterpieces, what do you think of the cow?

Does it have your name in it? How is it? [/QUOTE] Certainly does, mate! Kind of in the middle as well, so easier for me to spot! It's definitely a good album (seriously, Nemo has never put out anything even close to even an average album), with all the usual heavy grooves, charismatic vocals, cool synths, etc. But it definitely feels like `just more of the same', and maybe not quite as memorable, or with as much energy as usual. I kind of get the feeling that it's a case of band putting out a reliable send-off that will please fans, yet knowing in the back of their minds that it was time to wrap things up. In that respect, it feels a bit cold too, and the production isn't as slick and polished as it usually is on their albums. But they are a seriously good band, and if this truly turns out to be their last album, they can hold their head high knowing they went out with a good one, and have nothing but greatness in their entire catalogue. I can't think of many modern bands that were so consistent or put as much effort into their albums as Nemo.

Michael I've seen you giving Nemo a lot of praise, I have only their first two albums and while I really used to like them now they seem just ok, good but not memorable. I also listened to Si Partie once but for some reason I don't feel the need to explore them further on, I can say one thing that bothers me is their sound, it feels a bit plastic that combination of guitars and piano, anyway I think I'll try their later albums via utube to see if if something grabs me.

^^ Cool
That's good to know, I'll have to give some other albums a listen, I only know their previous one: it was quite long but I really liked it

I really dig `Revolu$ion' (that was the first one of theirs I got), `Barbares' and `Le Ver Dans le Fruit' especially, even though the latter is a double and probably far too long. The kind of `metal guitar without metal riffs' sounds of theirs takes a bit of getting used to!
It's strange, Sagi, when I listen to their albums, they seem so full of ideas, tons of cool playing, strong vocal melodies, lots of energy.
There was an option to pre-order their latest - and apparently final - album, which meant you'd get your name in the CD booklet (this is what Sam was referring to), and I thought that they always release reliable strong albums (in my opinion, anyway!) so I thought it was a pretty safe purchase.

I'd say give `Revolu$ion' a shot! Some of the tunes ditch the heavier guitar for a change

Elephant9 with Reine Fiske - Atlantis (Very different from the previous two but not bad at all ) Amon Düül II - Wolf City (They played two tracks from this album... or noise that sounded like those I don't find it as good as the first ones, not even close ) Grobschnitt - Solar Music Live (Great one David! Spacey symphonic, I like that )

Well, as you know, Sam, I'm not exactly a big fan of Pink Floyd. I find most of their albums OK, but not too exciting, and that goes for AHM as well. The title track's quite good, but after that it goes downhill pretty quickly for me, I'm sorry to say.
Anyway, today's choices:
Elephant9 - Walk the Nile Elephant9 with Reine Fiske - Atlantis Motorpsycho - Still Life with Eggplant Motorpsycho - Behind the Sun Elephant9 with Reine Fiske - Silver Mountain (Fantastic! Another Norwegian album that's in the mix for album of the year for me. We're having a great year so far! ) Frank Zappa - Hot Rats Il Balletto di Bronzo - Ys Can - Soundtracks Miasma & the Carousel of Headless Horses - Perils Jean Louis - s/t The Mars Volta - Live

I love Elephant9's `Atlantis', Sam, much noisier and more....`Krautrock' in places, or is it just me?! That `Wolf City' was the first Duul album I got, so I have nice memories of it, although they probably made better albums than it. Can you believe, right at the start of me prog collecting days, I had a CD of Grobschnitt's Solar Music Live, and I couldn't get my head around it, so I cashed it in at a second hand store and got...probably a couple of dollars for it! I would KILL to come across that one again now! Sigh...I was just too `new' to prog and didn't `get it'...

^^I'm sorry to hear that. You're right, the title track is the best one, but I was able to enjoy side two after some spins, especially the last one, it's such an acoustic beauty :)
^ The guitar surely adds some psychedelia to their sound ;)
It sounds to me like a psychedelic version of Curved Air :P
That's sad. I never sell any of my albums, not even if I don't like it, my opinions about those will probably change... I hope my opinion about VdGG will change someday :P
