Is that supposed to be Nirvana? or Narvana?

In any case I'd say Boston doesn't belong on this list. Not the best band in the world but they had a strong album with their ST entry, though they slid off the radar after that. Nirvana spawned a "sound" refereed to as Grunge, so they are safe. Kiss...I never really got them, The Dead have a reputation, lots of albums, but not much content if you understand my meaning. Dave Mattews Band are bland and uninteresting IMHO.

Kiss. Way over rated. Except as a Mary Kay marketing strategy.

Kiss for sure......I might have taken them seriously if they hadn't worn the funky clothes and makeup...and Simmons had kept his tongue in his mouth.

Excactly this. Btw, I would not call the Dave Matthews band overrated. Pretty good band.

^ Kiss weren't to be taken seriously, makeup or not, but they wrote some catchy hardrock.

Grateful Dead easily. Sorry, but I don't want to have to be high in order to enjoy something.

^ ditto, but I don't think that Kiss are overrated. I think everyone pretty much knows they are rubbish.  People may enjoy them anyway, but while being aware that they are listening to garbage.

They had good nights and bad ones.  You had to be at a good one, and then they were one of the best bands in the world.

I think '73-78 offer some of the best Dicks Picks shows.
