Odd album. It's almost entirely a capella but with the effect of orchestration provided by layering, looping and electronic effects. At the very least, it's a triumph of production and arrangement. I think I finally "get it" because it's still unified by the same overall aesthetic as Björk's other records.

Ronny Heimdal - Timequake (1999)
Ronny Heimdal Timequake album cover
First listen. The sole album from this Norwegian jazz rock artist. With Heimdal's guitar in focus it reminds me a bit of Guthrie Govan's Erotic Cakes album, but the added presence of keys make it sound a bit more spacey. It's quite good this. Enjoying it, that's for sure.

First listen. Loving this. On the third track now, some really beautiful parts on this one. Love the flute.

Siouxsie's own favourite of her albums I think, it's certainly one of the most ambitious. If anything it's even more everything-but-the-kitchensink than A Kiss in the Dreamhouse, throwing in all kinds of not just orchestration but also experiments with sampling and loopings. Also has a curious aesthetic concept that can best be described as "cyberpunk burlesque" tying it all together, which I guess is why it works as well as it does.
