Remember that the first VC room was called Mariah Carey?LOL

never participated in those thread, lack of time and I'm not silly enough to indulge in), but a lot of fortunes (in turns of posts published) were built in those kinds of threads.

Has nobody mentioned ZowieZiggy, who was such a prolific reviewer I'm guessing he didn't have much time for the forums.  He was stern - not a fan of jazz, country, classical, religion.  Steer clear of those and you might get 3 stars....

Clap that is he does and is stubborn as a mule

I've only seen one person that can out-Ivan Ivan.  Get this...many years ago some damn fool decided to get into with him over the release date of an album.  14 pages and countless multi-colored quotes and various research finds later he emerged victorious.  The key to debating him is.. a) be right and b) out stubborn him as he doesn't give up easily. Bless him LOLHeart

...... all I could think, other than I vant my mommy, was that I'm drowning in a sea of red and blue words. Nasty vicious big red and blue words, biting, scratching, all of them out to get me .... and it all began so innocently ...... Cry   but the end was terrible to behold.  LOLLOL

btw .... I meant to ask, something seemingly came a cropper sometime around 2007. Surely someone has a potted history of the great schism ?

LOL  he can do that to you. A potent mix of brains and stubbornness Clap

2007?  god knows..  so many schisms here. Likely I was involved.  I seemingly had a talent for being the middle of them. Most were related to additions. the one subject (in the PA's past at least) sure fired guaranteed to get people in arms around here.  There was a puritanic aspect to teh site which thankfully now seems to be a thing of the past.  As if being included here was some sort of special award or validation. Never understood that.. it is an archive of progressive rock/music. Perhaps it once was, very early on, of standard form 'prog rock' but obviously that notion is many years.. and 100 and 100's of additions dead and buried.

Yeah, if Ivan was wrong, like any good philosopher, he would make damn sure he didn't understand anything that might support the other guy's point of view.

Ah, the legend that is Ian Cownie. He's the man who got me on here in the first place, with his scathing put downs. I'm still friends with him on FB but I'm not sure why he doesn't post here any more.

I'm not sure how he'll react to being called "snog dog" instead of "snow dog" though. LOL

Snow Dog has popped up for some 20 minutes 38 days ago after a long absence. He posted six times in the Battle of the Albums polls.

ah .... 'come a cropper' .... I'm not at all sure of the etymology but it essentially equates to an accident. In my post "train wreck" probably would have sufficed. To be honest the whole thing was poorly worded.

I was about to head off into "damned American's, learn to speak English, when I realised the phrase is probably no more English than I am* . I read something somewhere that linguists believe that if e.g. there was no contact between America, England and Australia in less than 100 years we would not be able to understand each other. in the case of New Zealand some suggest this has already happened. Evil Smile

ps - it's a shame old posts only go a couple of years.

* wrong again ya drongo .... come a cropper is in fact a British expression.
