Upcoming releases that I bet will end up in my AOTY list:
![]() elephant9 - Silver Mountain (This one is a double album featuring Swedish guitarist extraordinnaire Reine Fiske. Release date 21. August) ![]() Zombi - Shape Shift (A return to a more space rocking sound for these two electronic critters. Releases 16th of October) ![]() Steve Moore - Cub (One half of Zombi, Steve has recorded the soundtrack to this upcoming horrormovie. This should be very interesting methinks. Releases on the same date as Shape Shift) |

Definitely looking forward to the new Dungen as well as the new Agusa. The latter is an album with only two track on it. I predict some improv psych of the highest quality.
I still think Pond has made the best album up until now. Memorable, easy on the ears, rocking, danceable, funky and last but not least psychedelic. It's not often you come across modern psych records that you can dance to. Other new acquisitions of mine from the year of our dog 2015 include the new Ghost Rhythms, Godspeed, Jaga, Zs and Tame Impala. They're all very new to me, so I'll wait a bit before I start dissecting them. On first listen though the new Tame Impala seems like a cool take on 80s synth pop....even if the drums and vocals still sound exactly like the first two albums. Again, I feel far more seduced by their sister act Pond. |

People leaving big lists of names with no description bugs me, so...
Probably prog: Keyboard-heavy instrumental fusion in their usual fantastic vein. More synthy and urban than One-Armed Bandit. Post-rock, but not of the pretty, melodic, polished variety; rather, it's visceral, raw and dark. Gigantically fuzzed out & heavy-hitting, with jazz influences in the piano and the free style of playing. Good but not quite as great as their classic albums, this is effectively one 40-minute track with a long droning section in the middle, no field recordings here. If you like GY!BE you won't be disappointed. Sibling band of Tame Impala but more genuinely psychedelic and less indie, really fun album with fantastic dancey hooks. Instrumental avant power trio, raw and natural-sounding, very intense, and very good. Probably not prog: Yes, it's a best-selling hip-hop album, it's really is as good as people say it is. Prog fans might like that it's effectively a concept album with deep themes, tied together by a monologue revealed in stages; lots of jazz influences in both the compositions & production; and he employs an even wider palette of voices for different characters than Peter Gabriel. These guys wore prog influences openly on their first album, but they're now more like weird indie pop darlings. This is a great melodic, fun album with lots of creativity hiding in & around the big choruses. The hipster jazz fusion ensemble joins an orchestra here, and they're impeccable as always; I don't think the compositions are quite as strong as the previous album, but they can't really put a foot wrong. Woman plays harp, sings, and writes beautiful songs to suit. This is a double album, the first (Sun) consists of regular songs, the second (Moon) consists of classical compositions for massed choir, chamber groups and otherwise. Plain-talking Australian indie singer-songwriter, writes simple but punchy songs that are really just background to the clever, down to earth, stream-of-consciousness lyrics. Breath of fresh air. Entirely quiet, stripped-back, beautiful songs for lo-fi layers of guitars and voice. It's just really nice.

I suggested earlier different candidates, but all to no avail. Neither one suggestion I have not received a response.

Doh!
I forgot such a great prog album.. Enablers - The Rightful Pivot. One of the most consistent bands out there. This is their 5th album, and they take a step forward in their songwriting skills. This song is just mesmerizing.

Loved it. The riffs were crushing and fun, and I could tell you were getting proggy here and there - it added to the freshness.

Actually I discover new releases mainly on this website!
![]() My favourites so far (no order): Anekdoten - Until All The Ghosts Are Gone Grand Tour - Heavy On The Beach IO Earth - New World Ciccada - The Finest of Miracles I am not that fond of the new album of Steven Wilson. Not that it is a bad album, but I simply like the previous one "The Raven..." much much more. |

Ghost Rhythms for me, the discovery of the year! I used to be they did not know about! Now I bought all 3 CD album, Why they are not on the PA issue? They also have a separate project "Lady with" he is also very good, it is more progressive. Play practically the same musicians as in "Ghosts Rythm" Edited by ProgCandles - June 24 2015 at 22:23 |
