So, that's none of the other 15 or so musicians who have actually been members of Yes, but the guy who painted some of their album covers. Makes sense.

What?

Rabin, Kaye, of course Bruford. All three were very significant. Kaye probably deserves it though for being with the band on more records than the other two and being apart of both the 70s and 80s lineup.

EDIT: misread the question. I thought you meant in terms of significance which member is outside of the most stable lineup if you can call it that. Not really sure if Yes gets a sixth member. Genesis definitely had one with Tony Stratton Smith.

Mr Rickenbacker clearly

Think how many prog bands since have utilised that signature sound. It denoted Yes (and prog) as much as anything.

I suppose though the serious answer has to be Roger Dean. Any other bands that were so tightly associated with the artwork as Yes were? I would struggle to think of any.

According to this http:////progarchy.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/prog-mag-yes-poster-at-9401.jpg the sixth member of Yes was Dave Potts (no, me neither) as the first five were Banks, Squire, Anderson, Bruford and Kaye. He appears to have been in the band for 5 days in place of Bruford.

For or us of the older generation, vinyl album covers were part of the listening experience. Btw, I once saw this sorry chap who wore an embroidered sweater that featured Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon prism refracted album cover art plastered on it.

Now, that doesn't make much sense either, does it?

^I'm quite sure that this bloke had a sweater, not a jacket. I would have emphasized the distinction had I known that you also had similar attire that made little sense. My apologies.
