^^I've read something similar about monsieur Bloom as well. He still looks like a small boy in that movie. To imagine him as this great powerful sword slinger is not plausible imo. He doesn't even look big enough to lift the sword.

The other thing letting him down is the fact that he is a bad actor. He works as an elf thoughBig smile

I do like Kingdom of Heaven, even if Bloom is an irritating choice as the lead. Oh well, at the time he was just about the most sought out actor, but I gather that was mostly down to his looks and not exactly his rather limited acting skills.

Movies, like music, will always have a loved it/hated it response from viewers and listeners.
I thought Orlando Bloom did a great job in Kingdom Of Heaven. I enjoyed his work throughout
the film much more than Joaquin Phoenix in Gladiator.
Phoenix did okay but his acting did not stand up to that of Russell Crowe, Oliver Reed (excellent) or the limited role of Richard Harris.

Fassbender was probably to young then like 15 or something

buut many sword chorelgraphs says Orlando is the best swordsmen they have worked with, sword choreographer in LotR is sword choreographer in PotC both had ceveral who were dilligant and picked it fast, bjtno-one did it as fluidand fast as Bloom, he was a natural swordsman

I agree regarding Blade Runner. I also thought Alien was great as well. Gladiator, although completely contrived historically-speaking, was fascinating just to watch Joaquin Phoenix. I couldn't stand Robin Hood, personally.

The most perplexing of Scott's movies was Kingdom of Heaven. Absolutely great and nuanced characters all through the production, excellent cinematography, well-written script, everything really well done -- except for the miscasting of Orlando Bloom. I don't know what it was, but he just did not fit. He was upstaged by every actor around him. Put someone like Michael Fassbender in his place and you really could've had something.

Blade Runner by a country mile. This film wins so many "bests" for me none of the others get close: acting, direction, cinematography, script, set-design, dialogue all come together to make a rare thing: an intelligent SF film where you don't have to suspend belief to gain enjoyment from it. The Counselor makes me sick, the outcome is disturbing and not necessary for a movie. Hate it.

My fave is the wildly inaccurate historically disabled 1492. Blade Runner and Alien are just as good, but I saw 1492 first.

Gladiator
Kingdom Of Heaven
Body Of Lies

I could have easily voted for more but kept it at three.
