My fave is the wildly inaccurate historically disabled 1492. Blade Runner and Alien are just as good, but I saw 1492 first.

The Counselor makes me sick, the outcome is disturbing and not necessary for a movie. Hate it.

Blade Runner by a country mile. This film wins so many "bests" for me none of the others get close: acting, direction, cinematography, script, set-design, dialogue all come together to make a rare thing: an intelligent SF film where you don't have to suspend belief to gain enjoyment from it. Scott's films are, in the main, watchable even if they aren't completely believable or accurate - Robin Hood was watchable because of its attention to visual detail - shame he didn't apply that same attention to the story, script and direction. |

I agree regarding Blade Runner. I also thought Alien was great as well. Gladiator, although completely contrived historically-speaking, was fascinating just to watch Joaquin Phoenix. I couldn't stand Robin Hood, personally. The most perplexing of Scott's movies was Kingdom of Heaven. Absolutely great and nuanced characters all through the production, excellent cinematography, well-written script, everything really well done -- except for the miscasting of Orlando Bloom. I don't know what it was, but he just did not fit. He was upstaged by every actor around him. Put someone like Michael Fassbender in his place and you really could've had something.
