Great Krokofant review, John! I've wanted to review that one for quite some time, but I'm not much of a reviewer, never seem to find the right words, and you described it so much better than I ever could. Thanks! |
Thanks Audun! I was actually really surprised I was the first to review it as i've seen them mentioned quite a few times, especially in relation to the "Best of" for 2014. | I'm not sure anyone here but the JR/F team, you and me knows about them.
Oh, and I think I was the only one who had them on the list for album of the year.
But hopefully some of those who read your review will take an interest in checking these talented guys' music out, as the band deserves more attention from the members of this site than they get.
|
Maybe all the references I thought I saw were from you . Hey not to hijak this thread but what Bushman's Revenge would you recommend, I understand your a fan. | They probably were.
Yes, I'm a big fan of BR. I'd say start with their latest, Thou Shalt Boogie!, perhaps their most proggiest/spaciest album, but you can't go wrong with any of their three preceding regular studio albums, YLMaH, Jitterbug (which features Elephant9's Ståle Storløkken on Hammond on a couple of tracks) and ALBoBB, either.

Thanks so much for the recommendations, I need money first but i'll put a couple of those on my list.

Oh and I appreciated Aapostos' review of Patchwork Cacophony if only that I had some of the same opinions and didn't feel it was a 4 star album. I did get some feedback from Mr. Bell about my review and it wasn't a positive experience, lets put it that way.

^ thanks John - strange to hear this since Ben is a really nice guy. I thought the album was really good with some improvement potentials.

He is a god guy, I just think he was surprised I didn't at least give it 4 stars when he thought him and I had very similar tastes. I think many who are into keyboard driven Prog will like this a lot though.

Hey John, being a huge keyboard fan I wondered which album are you referring to? There are a few mentioned in this exchange? Thanks

Excellent, interesting write up, I love Fusion Orchestra and the Symph genre generally. I have yet to hear Fusion Orchestra 2, I'll have to check this out. Thanks.

Iain, I really enjoyed your Syd review....always loved what his sister Rosemary had to say, which was quite a different perspective than the hype and magazine fodder.
Thanks for that one.

Cool to see Iain and Steve G review the same album back to back with very different opinions. While I agree more with Steve G's review Iain always impresses me with his words and intelligence.

I really enjoyed TCat's A Silver Mt Zion review, especially the background info related to the album and GY!BE. Well done!

Hi Mellotron Storm, just noticed this. I'm sorry you didn't find my feedback about your review positive, though I'm slightly puzzled about what I said to make you feel that? For the record I took it as a pretty positive review of an album that wasn't really your thing, and I though it was a good, and fair, review :)

Really great new reviews from Michael (ABB) and my PSIKE buddies I only know the albums from The Doors and Therion but the other two seem really interesting.

Michael ( Aussie Byrd Brother) 's review on "The lonely Robot's: Please come home" and of course Arena's The Unquiet Sky. Very charming and detailed reviews all around. I feel I would have no need to say anything about the latest Mitchell offering because Michael covers every train of thought I would have had to say so artfully. Once again. 2 more great reads.
John (Mellotron storm ) for inciting some huge excitement and praises for the latest and long time coming Anekdoten album. Looks promising and I feel compelled to check it out.

You are way too kind, Nick (and Sam, didn't notice that until now, sorry mate!), but I will say I'll add in the praises for John's Anekdoten album review! I'm way behind on ordering my copy of that album, so this just makes me very jealous! But Nick, way to go, my friend, you knocked it out of the park with your Arena review. Couldn't think of anyone better to write reviews for their albums, I know you're such a mad fan of them. I have one request - PLEASE review that latest Lunatic Soul album! You're spoken so passionately about it, and I think you'd deliver the goods with your own write-up on it!

^ That's ok. It was the review of the album from Reale Accademia di Musica... I still have to check that one I really like Nick's review, a very passionate one I didn't find 'Seventh Degree' loud, quite the contrary actually, I think it's an high quality vinyl John's reviews of Steven Wilson and Anekdoten were a great read
