IQ Marillion Genesis It Bites Ayreon/Arjen Lucassen Mike Oldfield Anathema Dream Theater Pink Floyd Transatlantic Knocking at the door (as I get to know them better, or they release more) Nightwish Moon Safari Sound Of Contact Big Big Train Keane (if they did prog, they would be great at it......!) and I will have forgotten lots more! But Rush and Yes wouldn't be there: I've tried, they have their moments, but they just don't work for me enough

Current list: Gentle Giant ELP Yes Genesis VDGG Jethro Tull Camel PFM I also like Can and Gong very much, but feel it's kinda unjust to put them on the list, since they are not prog by definition, rather psychedelic/avant-garde

that's an impeccable choice especially as you have probably named the top ten prog bands of all time. Would be extremely hard to argue with any of those

I like this list a lot as it features a good mix of styles and new and old bands. Also your honesty about Rush and Yes. btw I strongly recommend Dave Kerzner's -New World assuming you haven't got it already. Very Floydian in style , very grandiose and very impressive!

The one I forgot, who I only discovered recently, but who adds several more styles to my list, is Devin Townsend: mad as a box of frogs, but friggin' amazin'

Largely in order: Can King Crimson Art Zoyd Cardiacs Talk Talk Amon Düül II Van der Graaf Generator Camel Pink Floyd Swans Solo artists don't compete here but may be talen as adding to the overall appreciation of their bands in some informal way, i.e., Can's top rank is not totally unrelated to the great work of Holger Czukay, Irmin Schmidt, Jaki Liebezeit, Damo Suzuki outside the band, same for Fripp, Belew, later Bruford > King Crimson, William D. Drake > Cardiacs, Hammill > VDGG etc.

Including prog related bands I'd put Queen 2nd and Moody Blues somewhere as well.
