I want a post-punk album with really fast drumming. Kind of like Viet Cong at their fastest, but all the time.

Probably not exactly what you're looking for, but the new Motorama is pretty cool, and the fast drumming is there

Wire: First three albums. Each unique and very essential.

Bauhaus: I'd certainly recommend In The Flat Field. Raw and implacable industrial-esque deathrock two years before there was deathrock. Though if Kurt Cobain's listening habits are any indication, most of their discography is killer.

Mission of Burma: They had an EP and an LP in their original run, respectively Signals, Calls, and Marches and Vs, and both are excellent. Must listens.

Wire is one of my favorites. Bauhaus and Mission of Burma are quite good too. I would second Lear's Fool's recommendations as far as albums, but I will warn you that there's a lot of sonic clutter in Mission of Burma's Vs. I can't enjoy it all the time. I definitely prefer Signals, Calls, and Marches. Their reuinion albums tend to come highly recommended, with some (including J Mascis and Steve) saying The Obliterati is as good as anything they did in the 80s. Still have not listened to it.

I've been meaning to check out The Chameleons and Swell Maps. I've only seen Dean and Wikipedia mention The Sound. I probably should check them out.
