Great call on American Dreaming. Also, isn't Brendan Perry's entire solo album "Eye of the Hunter" drummer-less? Saturday's Child is a great one there...

No drum kit in this song. Keith Moon (RIP) wasn't able to play 6/8 timing, and just a bit of percussions was used from Pete Townshend's demo.
I don't think that this song could be better with the drums.

You are absolutely right. Oh let's just add that entire album as well! It's very good! I was surprised. SLOTH is my favourite. |

maybe could have used brushes instead of sticks? The snare would have been too much for sure

Pete Townshend said in an interview that Keith Moon doesn't know to play 6/8; Moon never knew to play 6/8 timing, Townshend said. Then the drums were removed from the song, and Jon Astley, the younger brother of Townshend's ex-wife and the producer of Who Are You the album, was recorded these "steps" and "claps", & some percussion from Townshend's demos were added.
Post Moon The Who era, a live version with drums on it..
An amazing performance actually, but I prefer the album version. Edited by Svetonio - October 25 2013 at 07:58 |

I guess... I was thinking about a drum set, not African percussions. Then, my choice would be "Histoires sans paroles".

Some of Haxan's percussion sounds drum-esque. They sure aren't drums, but they sound like them, and they are furiously and excellently played. That proves a big part of the magic of Zoyd.

Just so many of them are my favourites... even putting aside the ones from the classical music world I can't enumerate them given the stunningly big list. But limiting myself to the prog artists... Yes! a classical composition hahah :
Steve Hackett - Celebration - this music is a masterpice with its mere 6 min. time. What a perfect delight, the organ melody is just magnficent!
