I decided to make a topic for this experimental avant-garde musician, doesn't look like there's many rating for most of her albums.
So, if you have listened, have any favorite albums or songs? I couldn't pick an album, but my favorite song by her is probably 'Declare Independence'.

![]() Her last album, Vulnicura, is very human and full of haunted strings. The songs onthis one are much longer than usual. A nice album.

I started with Homogenic and never looked back. Have as much of what she has done as I could find, including film soundtracks, remixes, live albums, and her work with other bands like KUKL, The Sugarcubes, the Jazz trio, Dirty Projectors...all great

I haven't heard all of her albums, but my favorites are Homogenic and Volta. So I'd start with those. Or Debut if you want something more digestible.

I'm not a fan of Björk, in fact, I really don't like Björk. Except some tracks like Army Of Me, I don't like. I think that her best album is Debut.

Thanks. I'll probably have a browse and buy the cheapest album available of those. I am quite interested but up to now just never dipped my toes.

I like "Birthday" from the Sugarcubes, Bjork's first three solo albums, "Play Dead" and in my top 10 of songs of any artist anytime I have "Visur Vatnsenda Rosu" from Hector Zazou, with her voice and no doubt her lyrics.
I admire her a lot, but from Vespertine or Medulla on I lost a bit interest.

I've heard most of her albums(except the one from her early youth, Gling-Glo and Selmasongs) and Vespertine is my favorite

Loved all her work up to Homogenic. Vespertine was where she showed signs of coming apart, and after that I find all her stuff unlistenable. (YMMV of course...)
Also, way too few people who call themselves Bjork fans own Gling-Glo...

And one more thing... to me the Sugarcubes were one of the biggest lost opportunities in pop history. Brilliant songwriting and melodies, but ruined by the worst male singer I've ever heard; I just cannot stand that guy. If only they had let Bjork do everything.

Pretty much this except that I do have Selmasongs. I'm a huge fan of Vespertine. Medulla on the other hand is an album I totally respect but can't get through the entire thing in one go due to all the oddball vocalizations. Her newest album is actually pretty damn sweet as well...similar in certain aspects to Vespertine but kinda depressing.

Glad I saw this, because I always enjoy Bjork's music when I listen to it but haven't bought anything of hers in about a decade. Have to catch up...
But, of the older stuff, my favorite song is "Hyperballad." I can just picture Bjork standing at the edge of a cliff throwing spoons and tin cans down, down, down. Her SNL episode was pretty funny. |

Vespertine is an absolutely mindblowing release; nothing sounds like this album. Avantgarde and incredible beautiful at the same time. Unique.
