Oh Lord, this band will never be the same to me after seeing this...
"The Hall of Floaters in the Sky" and "Time Robber" had pretty good cover artworks though

This cover reminds me of the 1957 movie "Night of the Demon" (also known as  "Curse of the Demon") starring Dana Andrews. Have a look at the demon from that movie:

I like this cover a lot. Looks nice.

And King Crimson's THRAK cover fits the music perfectly.

Agreed on Abominog, quite a nasty cover.
This night wounds time.

Lots of Soft Machine covers are pretty embarrassing. Doesn't really invite you in or give you any imagination when listening to them for me Unhappy Here's a few (Volume 2, Third, and Hergest Ridge - Mike Oldfield):

I felt the same way until I saw it on vinyl. So much more impressive on that scale, in my opinion!
I agree I have held the album on vinyl in my hands and it worked better but still confused me.

I don't get  why some people consider this cover to be bad; for me it is one of the best ever. it perfectly fits the story told on the album. and the scene is no weirder than the story itself. and when you think about it for a moment you will realize that it is an illustration to the song "Riding  the Scree"

Some examples:

When I see one of those covers, I pretty much know that it's gonna be some boring band trying to copy Yes or any other Symph prog band from the 70s.

Kitsch.
