Last one from the batch, 'A Live Record' from Camel. Vinyl do wonders on this one, Richard Sinclair's cool bass playing and the sweet saxophone of Mel Collins on the first LP sound amazingly good, very warm and close. It's a shame they put two older live tracks in it, the quality difference is annoying. The live version of Snow Goose on the second LP is much better than the studio version IMO, although side 3 was quite noisy, I probably forgot to clean that sideLOL

IMOAW. These are the only two Camel records that I play regularly, especially the Goose. Have you had a chance to listen to the recently re-recorded version?

Well these are substantial towers, these things are huge they weigh like 80lbs each, solidly built and the finish exceeds most high end furniture finishes you have seen.

Multiple driver setup is nice, these actually have two midrange drivers...one for the upper midrange and the other for lower midrange and then the two woofers and dome tweeter. It is too much for me, price wise these things run US$4K, not interested in spending that kind of dough on speakers.....I am kinda window shopping for speakers but nothing more than US$1,500pr.

Klipsch speakers are high efficiency/sensitivity speakers, so if you have any "noise" in your system it will be heard, becareful. And yes there is always something better, the good thing is I think you can demo these at Best Buy, that is the ultimate test...your ears!

Strong upgrade from the EPOS IMO.

Yup.....not gonna happen.....I have a dealer wants to sell me a pr of Epos Epic 5 at a very sweet deal.....It's tempting.

I listened to that one, more than once actually, before I listened to that live version: after that it was not so good Tongue

Klipsch is a carryover from my tube epoch. When all you have at your disposal is a few watts, each dB at 2.83V@1m is precious.

Nice one !! Soup is a bit hard going, but what a groovy album. You've done well
Just went to Skully'z Recordz here in the Big Easy - scored Liquid Tension Experiment 2, and Mastodon Crack The Skye. Pigged-out on a massive Muffuletta & a ham Po-Boy. No dinner tonight.

After looking at pics of your purchases for a couple of days I decided to listen to the only Can album I have.
The 1975 US release of Soon Over Babaluma.
I'm still on side one.

I haven't listened to it in years but I'm glad the pictures on this thread made me dig it out.

It most certainly is, and/but what's really interesting: I had just finished playing my 50' compliation of Jobim's music (mostly sung by lovely Lisa and Elis, slightly adulterated by Astrud), so was already tuned into the carioca frequency ..

Oh, btw, I knew it wasn't your pic; you wouldn't have spent €€ on a record player that doesn't even have a Frippdamn dust cover Thumbs Up

What a coincidence Smile ... cool stuff, although I only know his most known songs. I probably should listen to something different, I've been listening to much more Prog than non-Prog music lately Tongue

So true Smile

Lisa Ono on "The Music Of AC Jobim: Ipanema" has three songs that are not very widely known, yet are very pretty (at least this version): Fotografia @ 17.03, A Felicidade @ 23.27 and Olha Pro Ceu @ 30.17. Very smooth and uncluttered music. I personally think that this album's versions of Garota, Samba Di Uma Nota So and Aquas De Marco are among the best, if not the best. If you are not bothered by her carioca accent.

Now, enter Elis Regina with Verve Jazz Masters 13. I couldn't find the whole album on Youtube, but on Amazon you can get second-hand polycarbonate for as low as $0.01 + shipping.  The lesser known songs that I like: Vivo Sonhando (instrumental), Chovendo Na Roseira and Triste.

I guess that's the honorable burden of a Special Collaborator; nobless oblige? Be glad you don't have to review Ke$ha (without autotune) Geek
