I am surprised to see Yes trailing by such a large margin.  If Dream Theater were winning like this someone would accuse the fan boys of conspiring. Wink  However, as great as PF are, and as much as I like them, Yes is arguably my favorite band, so . . .

True. Nobody could believe it if it was Dream Theater

Number 1 versus Number 2 in my book.

But we will now never get to know whether the PA forum prefers Yes or Genesis.

There are more "Yes vs Genesis" polls here than there are on any other two bands. LOL

and looking for a little excitement... or aiming to create it in our boring and often stressful real lives

movement overnight I see.. not as dramatic as Genesis closing on K.C.. but still

Yes making it bit more respectable. Not quite up to what Vegas said (13.5) .. but not the landslide it was earlier.

I can't count how many times I've heard Floyd been called that.

lol --On this website PF genre is not Symphonic prog it's---"Psychedelic Space rock" ---the chords and the guitar solo's are blues based---not a crazy term for them.
I like PF a lot---not one of my favorites so guess I'm surprised how badly they are losing but don't care that muxch. When I think of prog don't think "one of the most popular groups in the world" --- which they are---and it's because they are fairly easy to listen to.

Although indifferent to PA favorites such as Wish You Were Here and Animals: Pink Floyd for everything from Piper up to Meddle. Yes has a couple of albums I love as well but has never been a favorite band of mine

Yes, Yes, Yes... (from CTTE to GFTO it's fantastic ride, almost unbeatable). On the other side (of the moon :-) ) from Floyd I love Meddle and Wish You Were Here. I could listen The Wall (it's ok but far from perfect), I don't stand Animals (from whatever reason) and Dark Side is IMO the most overrated record in the history of space :-P

Tough

The Yes Album > Atom Heart Mother
Fragile < Meddle
CTTE > Dark Side
TFTO <<< WYWH
Relayer = Animals

The rest of their albums I'm not that keen on, to be honest.

So Floyd shades it

Aye, if by challenging you mean difficult to find something coherant and well written.Wink

Have to admit, the ~20 vote gap between them is quite surprising, it wasn't that long ago that Yes would have flattened Floyd, and anybody else other than Genesis.

if it quacks like a duck.. and has feathers... then call them what they were

A space rock band band... what the hell else are they going to sound like?  Yes?? Genesis?? LOL
Emphasis on 'bluesy'. Sure, they are in some sense, but they're more space rock and psychedelic than 'spacey' blues imo.

And you could say it's A Nice Pair Wink

Yeah they could be a nice pair but you can't vote for both so I'll be Going for the One.  (This could turn into The Endless River of puns)  Clap

I actually think it's the other way around. Think of Ummagumma and tell me that's not more challenging than any other album Yes came out with. Tongue

Sorry...RELAYER is more challenging that any PF album.

But still voted for Pink Floyd because they are more solid.

And have a great vocalist.

Pink Floyd.

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.
