Ha, Yes getting routed by PF while this one is still (somewhat) close. How could I underestimate the power of Genesis!

Exit rehashed Genesis vs. Yes polls. Enter future-rehashed King Crimson vs. Pink Floyd polls.

Genesis for me. I fully understand the Crimson votes, though.
Not so interested in the other semi-final. Crimson will get my vote in the next round for sure.

No contest for me, Genesis was my first prog love and remains one of my all time favorite bands.

I'm almost as surprised at this one as the other. I expected this to be closer.. this isn't far from being the laugher Floyd-Yes had turned out to be so far.

Genesis wins the 70s battle over Crimson by a long way
|
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

I admire both but one I enjoy listening to more than the other and that is Genesis.

be careful about using exciting and Genesis in the same sentence..
they can revoke your Proggie-card for offenses like that man.

Well, KC made some mind blowing albums with ITCOTCK and Red, and I quite like In The Wake Of Poseidon, Lizard and Larks' Tongues in Aspic too, and some songs on Thrak, but they are still no match against Genesis...
Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, Selling England By The Pound, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, And Then There Were Three and Duke are all brilliant, and A Trick Of The Tail and Wind And Wuthering are quite good too. There are even some enjoyable tracks on the other studio albums, and then I didn't even mention the first three live albums, which are all sensational in their very own way. What a legacy! |
Ohh...forgot about the live albums....good point. |
Yes, Genesis is one of those bands where the live albums can really add something to the studio albums.

Yes, Genesis, KC and PF all are the superposition of quantum prog-wave function. Today I've listened to one of it and this way reduced to Genesis, but tomorrow ... who knows?

King Crimson. Both are fantastic 1969-1974 though.

Oh well. I love KC so this decision is the tough one but inevitably it must be Genesis.

My Dad was a friend of Robert Fripp when they were at school together, so he will probably kill me if he finds I voted for Genesis.
