I like Nektar and have a few LPs. I also like Jane but don't hear them talked about much.
Are most of the albums pictured on this thread new vinyl or old? I only ask because I've never shopped for new vinyl and don't know how much of the classic music has been reissued.

I found these laying around the other day. Thought I'd share. I apologize also for the bottle in the corner |

^ had you not mentioned the bottle, I wouldn't have noticed
Quite a bit. A lot of jazz for sure. Some re-issues are very decent; others aren't. |

I assumed everyone would notice, so I tried to point it out first. Impaled on my own sword I suppose Edited by aglasshouse - January 11 2015 at 00:05 |

I don't drive and I seldom leave the house. That's why I ask questions online.

By the way, I read your Doors review: even though I agree with some points, I never compared their music with fully psychedelic stuff (or Prog, to me it's clever classic rock), after all they are in Proto-Prog here Welcome to this warm thread |

It may be worth your while to research online the items and sets you own to see what the trends are; whether they are shifting from the "second-hand" status to "vintage". I am pretty sure there are all kinds of online forums, like this, that are dedicated to DVD's, glass ware etc.

Most of what I have is original vinyl from the 70's and 80's. But I have been getting some of the reissues as long as I know they are done well, mainly from the original analog tapes but also if done from digital file of 24bit, then cut and mastered for vinyl..those sound amazing IMO. We could get into topics like who actually does the mastering, cutting and pressing but can be involving....I have my favorites and others do too.......Really boils down to research. Online you can find pretty much anything you are interested in, there are tons of online stores.....But as we all know the joy of this media is going and digging thru bins and when you find that treasure it's like hitting the Lotto.

For example, I spent a year looking in my stores around here for Soft Machine Third and Fourth. They are not easy to come by around here and I lucked into two great copies in VG+ condition....

^ I didn't know you also had Fourth, awesome stuff. Not easy to find them here too, the only album I saw from them was Bundles.

The DVDs aren't a problem. My two sons will gladly divide those (as they will my firearms) when the time comes. A lot of the glassware is collectible and could be sold on ebay a few pieces at a time or in an ebay store. Eventually selling the LPs will take some time and thought.

Last year my son had a couple of art openings and each time there was a used record store on the same block. At both locations most of the regular stock was a variety of artists and styles and the overall condition was what you might find at a Goodwill store. I know there are some better stores in the L.A. area because I've seen their adds online. The prices on the many "we buy and sell used vinyl" sites varies considerably and will take some more time to research.

Bundles and The Soft Machine are found easily as they have been reissued.....but 3 and 4 not easy finds. And both have a wonderful sound, that early analog sounds really nice....Columbia did a fine job on both.

Since I tend to lean toward guitarists, Bundles wiith Allan Holdsworth and Softs with John Etheridge are two of my favorites. Unfortunately, other than those two, I only have 7. I thought I had 3 but after a quick check I do not.
